Podcasts saved my sanity

I don't know about you, but the greatest thing about Steve Jobs' domination of the tech world is having Podcasts available for those long, tedious commutes.

Now, I'm not saying I've abandoned the terrestrial radio format in total, but one can only station-hop so much around the "cash for gold" commercials and whatnot.  My podcast rotation does change, but right now I'm vibing on these 3 shows:

adam-carolla.jpg

1. The Adam Carolla Podcast.  It's like his old radio show (I used to listen to it out in California) but with him ranting without commercial interuption.  He loves to talk about drivers, and how nobody honks in L.A. for fear of being seen as rude - and he hates it when people don't turn right on a red light if it's clear.  A man after my own heart.

ira glass.jpg 2. This American Life.  Of course, we Chicagoans know that this uber-popular public radio show is produced locally, at WBEZ.  It's awesome to let Ira's intellectual ramblings tamper your rage against the masses of commuting hummanity around you.

3. The Movie Hour.  You don't really have to be a major film nerd to get with these guys and their uber-detailed movie reviews.  Yes, they do throw in references to Fellini and other film school-type jargon - but they also talked about the trend of Bromance in movies like "I Love You Man."  At the very least, you've got cocktail party chatter for the week.

What are your podcast saviors?  Can't miss radio shows?

Thanks for the shout-out! Hope you're still listening to The Movie Hour!
