I'm guilty! I use my cell phone while driving and I took this picture while driving. But here's the hypocrisy: I don't think cell phones should be used while driving. It is an obvious distraction and let's face it, "You don't need to talk on the phone while driving."
If red lights, speed limits, and lane discipline are all violated more while using the phone, get off of the stupid phone. I'm guilty. "Hey let me see if a restaurant is open, what about the health club hours,...is my wife home yet?" For each of these, I could pull over and make the call. But NO! I choose to be distracted - punching letters and numbers...risking a "7-Pounds" incident while trying to make a phone call. I guess I can't call others stupid, if I choose to do the stupid thing too. Advanced technology doesn't make us stupid, it just gives us more opportunities to become stupid. Don't drink or call and drive.

Hey Garrard,
Love the show.
People who talk on the cell phone whilst driving are a menace and a risk to themselves and other road users.
Stiffer penalties such as more expensive fines need to introduced both in the city and the burbs ASAP!
Repeated offenders should be thrown in the slammer!!
Over and out

People must have a lot of urgent business to talk about now days ,because nearly every car you see on the road has someone talking on the cell. What did we do before the cell phone? We either waited until we got home or found a pay phone. But I guess our converstaions are too important now to wait.

I usually just put my phone on the speaker mode. It's safer, and keeps my hands-free without having to buy a bluetooth headset.

I don't think you should talk on a cell phone while driving. Years ago before cell phones I had an accident
because I was distracted with the radio. I felt
bad about it because it could have been avoided.
I don't like to eat while driving. Driving
is a full time job not a part time gig.

Okay GML, I understand not texting while driving (which is what Will Smith was doing in "7 Pounds") but not TALK!
In their cars, emergency response personnel use radios, pc's and multi-task in numerous ways ALL WHILE DRIVING.
Now, if a person is on their cell while driving and holding the handset I can plainly see where that would be a distraction.
But if a person is talking with a hands-free device wouldn't that be like talking to someone in the car?
So now, should we also ticket drivers for talking to the passengers in their own vehicles?
Is it that people run lights b/c their on their cell phones or is it that people that run lights just happen to be on their cell phones?
If I can't talk on my phone then tell those cops that are dialing in info on their laptops while following me to pull over. And everytime they call something in to the dispatch to make sure they are sitting still.
Leave my blue tooth ALONE!

I think isn't the fault of cell phones that people can't drive. I thinks is the fault of the person. I don't see how someone can become so wrapped up in their conversation that they cause an accident. I talk on my phone all the time. That's why they invented things like the bluetooth and voice recognition. Now if we stop talking on cell while we drive( which I see law enforcement officers do all the time) what excuse will people have for getting into the accidents then? What will they say when they still get caught running that red light?
