Sen. Dick Durbin clears his name by specifying that he suggests a commutation of sentence for George Ryan, not a pardon. It would be a get out of jail card, but with all the baggage atttached - the conviction, the felony charges, etc...
Pardons and commutations aside, let Mr. Ryan stay in jail for awhile longer. He can continue to write his book on being a fallen governor.
