Do you feel like you're driving through a minefield when manuvering your car through the local roads? It's the attack of the potholes on Chicagoland streets. The city's Department of Transportation says it received more than 1,000 pothole complaints this morning alone. It's been so bad CDOT Commissioner Thomas G. Byrne announced a new accord for seven-day-a-week pothole coverage. But with all the weather warnings don't you think city and state officials should have anticipated this and been prepared earlier? Are the various agencies moving fast enough to fill in all the problem spots?
Let me know what you think by leaving a comment. Then call in tonight at 6:30pm and share your thoughts.

Plain & simple, within a city, main thoroughfares should be paved with CONCRETE. Asphalt should be a material only used on residential side streets that don't allow the passage of heavy vehicles.
It may cost a little more initially but in the long run it should give more service to travelers with fewer potholes therefore resulting in less liability on the city's part to fix vehicles damaged by city streets.

It's not just the city, it's most of the state. Why don't we have one governing body that oversees road construction and maintenance? If you ever wonder where the money goes with all the sales taxes we pay in Cook County, you have only to look at the slush fund for Co. officials. I suspect that the money trail if seriously followed, you'd find some very interesting rat holes in county and state government. The people of IL should be embarrassed.

It is because this is earth, and your concrete and asphalt were not meant to be here. Your buildings and your cars are not natural, they are bore of evil man. We shall go back to horses for interstate travel. Let the grass grow again.

Jessie White is certainly living up to his promise to do whatever the system, tells him to do. I understand why he won't sign for Burris, he doesn't want to put his position in jeopardy. But if he doesn't sign, he has already put it in jeopardy

This is totally crazy, this pothole problem is a continuation of the corrupt Daley administration to continue to give Chicago citizen's money to his family and friends. With technology today there should be a better solution to getting rid of the yearly pothole problem. Why not use another substance like concrete, this city sidewalks do not have to be re-paved every year, even with the salt used by residents. If the sale used is to strong change the product, and stop taking citizens money to pay his family and friends.
But, we all know that Fitzgerald should also be putting the mayor, his family, friends and half of city hall in handcuffs. They need to build a prison just for Chicago political figures, for real.
