Uh oh! Rod Blagojevich is picking Roland Burris to fill Barack Obama's senate spot. It is hard to say if legislators will approve of this in Springfield, but I do believe that Atty. Roland Burris is a solid choice. Former attorney general, comptroller, currently a legal consultant for Burris & Lebed Consulting, LLC.
Do you think Burris is a good pick? Is Blagojevich playing chess with the citizens and politicians of Illinois? Take a look at Roland Burris on GML, a few months ago. Also, here is Burris's wiki.

I forgot about Roland Burris! I guess out of sight, out of mind. I think he's a great pick!

I doesn't matter if Burris is a good pick. Let's not lose track of the big picture. There is something unsavory going on in the Governor's office.
And the end doesn't justify the process. And this selection process has been corrupted.
Does just the pick matter? Or does the character of the man making the pick also matter? They are intertwined. Everything is cause and effect. We aren't privy to motivation and other background orchestration that's going on.
Plus, how much has Burris contributed to Blagojevich again? $14,000? I thought the going rate to buy a Blago favor was $25,000. He got a good recession deal. That's more than 40 percent off.

Interesting chess move by Blago.
This reminds me of a episode of the Wire, where you have the CROOKS vs. CRIMINALS.
Crooks are politicians, local officials, special interest groups and some police departments.
Criminals are drug dealers, thieves, rapist and murderers.
I like the move by Blago. Why because what people really need to understand is that the Democrats want Blago to just go away, don’t start anymore trouble and keep his mouth shut. They really don’t care about the citizens of Illinois. The Republicans just want to see if they can steal that senate seat, they really don’t care about issues and problems facing the citizens of Illinois.
I want to see how many crooks will be removed from the tax payers payroll when this is completed.

Considering Mr. Burris's impeccable credentials, why would he want to be propelled by an eight cylinder engine with only four cylinders functioning?
I think it would be wise to remain on the ground until a fully operational engine is available.

Thank God that somebody is thinking! I agree with most of the comment contributors above when it comes to this pick. I feel that Mr. Burris should be commended for putting his own name in the hat, but I think DAN SEALS would have been a better choice.
In fact, I didn't even think of Dan Seals UNTIL I found out that Mr. Burris was the rumored choice a little while ago.
But it's too late. I just hope that the best interests of Illinois residents are at heart.

LEAVE MY GOVERNOR ALONE! HE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE. I STILL STAND BY HIM. WHY DIDN'T ANYONE GET TOGETHER AND IMPEACH GEORGE BUSH FOR LYING AND WAR CRIMES!

Was Roland Burris ever a consideration for replacement of Obama's seat prior to the current scandal?

I think it was a horrible display of guerilla journalism this afternoon at the press conference. They attacked Burris and Blago--similar to how the press attacked Obama on his relationship with Blago the day he appointed his healthcare team --it was sickening. I don't think Rush was a smokescreen--i applaud him for interceding and taking a stance. You can tell by how G-Rod exited after the press conference that neither Rush or Burris wanted anything to do with him. It is unfortunate what happened with Blago, but Burris is an excellent pick. I agree with Durkin, make Burris take oath and testify. He never agreed with Blago from the beginning.

Dorothy Tillman has NOTHING salient to say. Her schtick is simple minded activist rhetoric of a time long gone.
And you Chicago folks voted her as an Alderman???
