I'm sure the man charged has been in and out of a dysfunctional Illinois jail system for years ..

Who do we blame for his behavior ?

Him alone ?
His Parents ?
His Teachers ?

Or a sadly deficient and negligent group of politicians who turn a blind eye at the abuse that goes on in it's jails.

I have been locked up in cook county jail , I have seen guards beet prisoners for No reason !

We need rehab programs , educational programs , and Jailer guards that obey the laws .

Until that happens , the crime rate here in Illinois will remain .

This whole thing makes me sick !

Assuming he is the correct suspect, it's sad that a former in-law/relative would commit such a crime. What was the motivation? Anger? Bitterness? Jealousy/Envy? Or just plain CRAZY?

Stories like the Hudson story simply leave me feeling dejected about the state of mankind.

I Believe William Balfour is Guilty In The Hudson Murders.

Let's start with his parents and then end with him. People make choices in their life and there are consequences to bad choices.

I feel that William is guilty as well as Julia because you are hiding something for your husband.I believe she loved this man more than her own family.Before she put a lock on her myspace page she still had him as her number three friend on her page as well as pictures of them together kissing and all hugged up. Plus Julia was going on line everyday like oh well she showed little concern ,I would have been stomping all up and down the streets of Chicago looking for mine .She acts like she was a black sheep of the family when it came too the family just of her comments alone on her page ,a sense of jealousy of her sister fame ,what did she receive from her sister Jennifer after she struck it rich from her fame ,and what made Julia so bitter?

I think they have the right guy cause think about why was he there that friday morning. but most of all sad to say what role does the sister play in this tradegy? and how did balfour get her brother jason gun and why would her sister be on the internet all happy go lucky and making statement like now that jason gone I'm the prettiest star now so all I say is balfour was'nt alone in this tradegy. My thoughts and Prays goes out to Jennifer Hudson and Family Only.

I get more and more confused everytime I hear about this case and whose in jail and whose not. I do have to agree though with Michelle Balfour (Balfours' mother); I don't think her son could of performed the murders by himself. I also don't understand how they have a eyewitness now to when he had the gun. I agree with his mother too that the police, detectives or whomever are taking the word of an drug addict. I know for certain people will turn states evidence so that they can get lesser time or get charges dropped on their case. I think that the authorities are trying to hurry up and get a "fall guy" for these murders and because of Balfours' checkered past they can easily frame him for the murders. I don't know if he did they murders or if he didn't, but if he did then I don't think he acted alone.

My comments in reference to the William Balfour case is that the cops and investigators really need to look at all the evidence and make sure they have all the information they need to prosecute the right suspects. I will not say I believe William Balfour committed these murders, but then again he could have. I don't know. If he did I believe he would have had to have help.

As a mother I understand his mom wanting to support her son. I have a son to but right is right and these days you can't put nothing past anybody. Right now I could look at this case 4 different ways and there would be 4 possible suspects each for different reasons. If people rush to judgement justice still will not be served. I just pray for the sake of that family everything comes to light and the right suspects are prosecuted. Right now I feel everybody is a suspect.

Its an unfortunate situation no matter how the charges fall. But when police put all their egs in one basket securing charges against Balfour, you have given us no leads in terms of WHO was handling this dead boys body while Balfour was in custody.

AND, with all this focus on Balfour, have you given the other people incolved enough time to flee the city if not the country ?

One thing I think has been unfair is that William Balfour has been in custody based on probation violation. He was not initally charged with murder until today. It appears to me that the police department did not have enough evidence on him to convict so they gave him a lesser charge to try and build a case. I don't know if he's innocent or guilty but it seems as if his due process has been violated.

I forget, are you guilty until proven innocent or the other way around.

GMAC, I can't say that I think he's in this alone but I do think he's involved. The lesson here is "little girls, mind who you bring into your families to be apart of them".

This is a very sad situation in which no length of prosecution brings resolve.

I'm not sure if they are charging the right guy or not. I do know that it has taken a long time for them to charge Balfour, which means they didn't have enough evidence to charge him. Now I'm thinking they charged him because they rather try and charge him now than to let him get away. I'm not even sure what type of evidence they have. So I don't know if they will be able to get a conviction. I am ready for this case to be over though. I mean I wish witnesses with real evidence would come forth. I wish anyone and everyone that was involved would confess. This as well as all murders that has been committed are a shame. It would be horrible for the person or people who've committed this crime to be let off free.

What really amazes me is the reactive attitudes of blacks opposed to proactive involvement Day after day I hear the same thing in Gary, Indiana and throughout this country. It has gotten to the point where I honestly feel there is no hope for African Americans who are not aware slavery is over. So many slaves still exist in America.

Today, on the local radio station here in Gary, Indiana, people constantly called in voicing their idiotic opinions regarding the conditions of Gary and other communities throughout this country.

Unfortunately, most people called in just to hear themself talk. Then there are the ones who have nothing else to do.

The bottom line is, until black people come to the realization that our mindset must change, we will remain in the bottom of the barrel. A barrel of complacent crabs who dares the other crabs to make any attempt to climb to the rim.

Knowing that, what makes you think the people in this city or any other city are capable of caring about their brothers and sisters when the religious leaders don't care?

Yes he is wrong for killing the Hudson members I know he did it because I come from the streets & we the people of the streets solve more crimes than CPD Everone died because they knew their killer I been going through double & triple murders my whole life & they all ended up like this one The one u trusted be the one to take u out! I do not belive the police have the right person. It is absolutely unfair 2 charge a person with a crime and rob the of their freedom not knowing the facts. And that fact is WHERE IS THE PROFF OF THE MURDER IS THERE PROPABLE CAUSE? No so they should free him and find the correct person or persons.

This sort of discussion regarding a malicious murder, including the cold blooded killing of an 8 year old, makes this show look like local amatuer cabler tv at its worst. It's a domestic tragedy for a black family, yet the suspect should regarded as scapegoat of racial prejudice.

I heard william balfour mom and I have a question,why did her son not take a lie detector test? I thought julia was her friend? so y should she be tested? not makin sense to be. his mom is talkin bout people but she needs to be focused on her son.

I was watching GML live tonight, and Michelle Davis- Balfour had some very good points. Why didn't the police search her home knowing that was where William lived. Also, why is Drew Peterson still roaming around scott free. This is a hard case, but I feel that the police should not arrest and charge someone with a crime just because of their previous background.

I HONESTLY believe William has NOTHING to do with any of these murders. I feel he was an easy target and he is being used as a scapegoat. Like Gerrard said, why isn't a kidnapping charge being thrown in with the other charges? As far as the statement by the "bitter" girlfriend, INADMISSABLE! She is not a credible witness and her statement should be dismissed! The police have a gun, with possible DNA. Why hasn't the fingerprints been lifted yet? I'm not a DNA expert but it has been a month since the murders and the finding of the weapon used and I know DNA doesn't take that long. Especially when his ( William Balfour) DNA is already in the system. Last but not least, if this [innocent] man is convicted of these charges and he is later found to be innocent due to the lack of proper procedure or failure of poilce work. He is sooooo guilty. I also believe he did not act alone. I understand his mother wants to be there to support; however she know that her son is a thug and always has been. So, he had a job; thugs have jobs too. She said clearly that her son has been in and out of trouble since a teenager. It is so heart breaking thinking of the baby being shot several times. It's been a month now and my heart still aches. Michelle is not helping her son by being so vocal. I think it's possible that he might have done this, but more than likely he didn't. It's awful strange that Julia is not being question. William Balfour and Jennifer's ex James shud both be investiagated they have a reason to be bitter and maybe somebody paid them,they shud check their bank accounts,I still suspect Matthew Knowles,why is this happening when Jen is supposed to be promoting her album,the movie and enjoying her engagement,why is Beyonce talking about her marriage when she was saying it was all Private,it is no longer private now that Jennifer was open and comfortable in talking about her man and she was getting all the media attention,this is deeper than we think.Maybe my theory is wrong but it shud be analyised.Matthew Knowles and JAY Z are creepy characters and the music industry is dangerous a world.

At some point in our live we do things and try and change and because of that we have to live every single minute of our live being judged. I think that something is wrong with this whole stiutation. If he is guilty than he gets what he deserves. On the other hand if he is not than the city will get what they deserves. You can not base a case on circumstantial evidence. It took them five weeks to find a way to charges him. Far as his mother she is doing what she thinks is right for her son. We need to stop the guilty until proven innocent and we might get somewhere. First let me say im sorry that these people lost thier lives because of bad choices made. A senseless crime and a innocent little boy who could not protect him self. im sorry j hud but you should have made your mom a offer she would have not refuse. take her and the boy with you out of town. I have compassion & sympathy for what the Hudsons' have experienced, and are still experiencing, but I also know the pain of a mother whose son is being wrongfully accused.
I want Jennifer Hudson & her family to get closure, but not at the price of an innocent man.
Yes I believe William Balfour is innocent.
I've carefully ingested all the stories released to the various presses on this case, & it is clear to me that there are conflicting stories.
Different things being released to different reporting agencies.
It is not just one fact here & another at another time, it is one story from one reporting agency, and another from another agency with totally different facts.
I am aware of the practise of protecting an investigation, and not releasing certain facts of the case to the public for this purpose, however, whatever is released should be the same information to all parties it is released to, irregardless of the time the information was released.
I'd like to know the reason why the "stories" are conflicting.
There is only one source to the facts being released, and that is the CPD.
If what is being released is what really happened, the details from every media source feeding the public the information would be the same or very similiar.
Certain individual details may not all be released at one time, but the general story would be the same.
It is not so in this case.
I'd like to know who is "clouding the issue" in this case, and the motive behind it.
Is this a smoke screen of some sort?
The very fact that suggests that a "smoke screen" is even necessary in this case is suspicious to me.

I'd like to know what was in those bags the police took out of the Hudson home when they went back the second time.
I'd like to hope the police dusted William Balfours car steering wheel for finger prints since they say gun residue was found on it.
I'd like to know if the police dept was able to get any latent prints from that new shower curtain they claim came from the Hudson home that wrapped Julians body.
I'd like to know why when the story broke the first time, CPD was adamant in saying they would not release the time of Julians death, yet now that they have charged William Balfour they are still withholding this information.
To further withhold this information suggests to me that someone is attempting to solicit someone elses' help in covering the time of death up so it won't be released or the right information will not be released, OR the CPD doesn't really know the time of death (which I don't believe is true) OR it is not being released to the public because someone knows that to do so would be admitting that Balfour did not do this crime.
I would like to know what contacts were revealed when (and if) the CPD investigated Jason Hudsons cell phone records.
I would like to know how the CPD could point all of their fingers at William Balfour when there clearly is another "person of interest" in this case.
One who would have had access to all the elements it took to make this case happen more so than William Balfour.
I am proud to say I am not one of the many who believe everything I am force fed by the media, and I am certain I am not the only person who has doubts as to the guilt of Balfour.
Of course the public is not privy to the details of the findings of the police departments in investigations, but we should all try to put the shoe on the other foot and ask if this happened in my family, wouldn't I want the police to investigate in depth, and to do a good job at it, catching the "right" person or people responsible, whoever they may be? I believe we would all say yes to that.
To make a hasty decision in this matter or any other extremely violent crime such as this insults the intelligence of us all.
Whoever did this crime to a child evidently has no conscious and in my opinion would not hesitate to do it again, and if they are not stopped will only read that as a license to continue, thinking they would never get caught.

Other questions in my mind follows
(These and not voiced to implicate the police department of any negligence or wrongdoing, because I understand how overworked & underpaid they are, but knowing that does not negate the fact that the question exists & deserves an answer)

Who is watching the police?
Who is responsible for making the police do what is right? What they are being paid to do?

Personally I think the police in any city in the united states have been given too much power.
Power with no responsibility of accountability only creates monstrosity.
I believe police departments all over the united states should be held accountable for their actions.
But the question remains, who is ensuring that this is done?
Not too long ago I read an article that stated the city of Chicago was making an attempt at getting "another" gang task force together, (since this high profile murder of the Hudson family happened) and that the city had one a while back, but it was disbanned due to some of the officers becoming corrupt, joining gangs, participating in drug activity etc.
If this is true, I would say this gives some serious insight on some things that need to be "fixed" in Chicago.

If this is an example of how investigations are done, the CPD needs to go back to school!
It is very clear that investigations involving so many lives intertwined and entangled with each other takes a lot longer than 1 month to complete, if you want to be thorough!
And in a situation where someone murders a child, why would anyone want to be less than thorough?

who is suprised that a drug dealer got killed in his home in chicago. there have been at least 3 other drug related triple homicides in chicago this year and none of them made the news like this. everyone in the neighborhood knew that the hudson house was a big dope house and that her brother was running the whole spot out of that house.that house had a history of fighting the police there whenever police were called for parties getting out of hand, or drug sales there. that is the real reason the hudsons never moved out of that neighborhood.why is nobody suprised that jason hudson had a unregistared .45 cal gun in the house for protection? dope houses need protection too......

Yes - I do think that he was instrumental in the murders - - I am just not certain that he did it on his own - I think that he may have had some help!

In my opionion this case is being built all on circumstantial evidence, and a criminal defendant cannot be convicted of a crime on the basis of circumstantial evidence. In fact, most convictions are based exclusively on circumstantial evidence, because, unless the defendant has confessed or there is a credible eyewitness not a person with an ongoing drug habit in addition to a pending drug case what else is left inside this grab bag lets see circumstantial evidence the only kind of evidence available. Even the so called GSR they have, it took all this time to announce such tangible evidence. I'm quite sure they have tested all of his personal effects, hair, skin, blood, e.t.c. What about checking the victims for possible D.N.A. especially William Balfours he is already in the system. The Chicago Police department should not put all their eggs in one bakset, of course Jodie Weis will say the evidence is strong that is his job, along with making the Chicago Police Department look and feel confident, and maybe competent. There is absolutely to much he say she say going on this is not Highschool and the rush job the CPD is doing it is indeed all political. This is a high profile case and a serious case. Are there any credible witnesses out there? There is way too much conflicting statements, like the two suspects that were seen driving the SUV what happened to them? I know Jenifer Hudson is on her way to stardom, but her family has a dirty past especially her brother a drug dealer and a Gangsta Disciple not to mention the gun he stoled from someone in Michgan and then had the audacity to report a stolen gun stolen isn't that ironic. Full backround checks should have been performed on all family members there should be no special treatment, because of Jenifer Hudson's status. Something is seriously wrong with this investigation. I think the actors of CSI would do a better job. Lets not make haste decisions based off emotions lets gather the facts first and then make a decision. This is a SAD situation. First of all, I don't think William Balfour had anything to do with this case. He may have been in the area that morning, but someone else did this. I truly and I ask God for forgiveness if I'm wrong, but I truly believe JULIA had something to do with this crime. I also feel that the Police know she did too. They are just trying to put in on Balfour because of Jennifer. I believe Jennifer knows something too. What I mean by that is that I think she knows her SISTER had something to do with this and may not want to say anything. Because the LOST was so horrific, they do not want to say anything, they are just trying to put the Blame on William Balfor (CPD) so they don't have to deal with the real KILLER OR KILLERS. I do know if William's mother said Jason weighed 475lbs, someone had to have help taking him to the upstairs bedroom where he was found, if he was shot downstairs by the front door. And that little man could not take him upstairs. The little precious boy knew and went along with whoever lured him to that truck. He knew them very well. That's why there was no noise when this occured except the gun shots. He may not have been there or had been taken away before the shooting occured. There is just too much to this situation that is not being TOLD. Who's hiding what? Someone knows something they are not telling including the CPD.

Isn't it sad that Michele Balfour hasn't read about Mike Vic. If she had she would know that when you get expensive material worth it comes with a price of keeping it. A student in my district got into a fight with another student. He fell during the fight and hit his head. Went into a coma and stayed for 6 months. His mother became so worked up by the incident and him not coming out of the coma right away that she had a heart attack after he was in a coma about a month and died. Little skinny lady that nobody would have ever imagined this would happen to. All boiling down to her body not being able to take the shocking stress. The child wakes up 6 months later to find his mother was dead. Thank God for the loving father in his life who married his mother when he was 16 months old. (he was 14 when this happened)

For 1 her husband/the murder had her brothers gun, 2 she showed little emotion on television with the weak plead for her son, 3 she did not view the body of her son, 4 she did not provide info regarding her and Balfours attempt at reconciliation. I believe is an accomplice.

I know for a fact that Mr. William Balfour did not commit these murders, and the police know that he did not commit them either, especially by himself. The true murderers are still out there on the street, and the Chicago Police Department knows this. The motive for this crime was: Drugs and Robbery gone wrong. Jason, the Hudson brother, was selling dope out of the house.
