Should Dick Durbin write the letter to George Bush, to pardon former Governor George Ryan? No. I think that Governor Ryan should spend a little bit more time in federal prison for the scandalous crimes perpetrated against everyday people. Sixteen counts of racketeering conspiracy, fraud, and lying under oath...well, I do feel for his family, however, individuals with less offensive crimes are doing far more time.
In the spirit of Bush leaving, and the holidays approaching, I have a soft heart. But Dick Durbin feels more for Ryan than I do. Federal prison can't be all bad...it's a great place to reflect and write a book. If no pardon is in sight for George Ryan, I'll buy the book after he's released.

Ryan figures that George Bush is his only hope because Bush has his own problems and he's someone that wasn't in touch with Illinois politics.
Whereas for Obama, Gov. Ryan will perhaps get no pity

NO WAY!! I am so disappointed in Dick Durbin - I thought that he was a man for the people - and could possibly have the skills to go to Washington for an even bigger job in the future. Now, I am sorry that I voted for him, and will NEVER make that mistake again. As for Ryan - why should we feel sorry for him OR his wife??? Per the Sun Times - BEFORE Ryan went to prison, he collected over $800,000 in retirement benefits...about $197,000 a year! If his wife didn't put any of that money in the bank - then she's as stupid as her husband....AND she has 6 kids to help take care of her. WHY WOULD I FEEL SORRY FOR THE RYAN FAMILY??? I feel disgust for Durbin...

I know Mr Ryan (doesn't deserve the honor of a title of Governor) should not be pardoned for any reason. His behaviore resulted in how many deaths, accidents, lost of monies for the insurance companies as well as the people of Illinois who trusted him. I'm sorry his wife is having problems, but her children or other family members could help her. If that is not possible then she could hire someone for care. He does not deserve any of our sympathy or concern. Who we should be conscerned for are the people who lost family and/or friends due to his wreckless behavior. Thank you. Diane
