Garrard McClendon Live

« Play Hooky on 1st Day! | Main | How can we keep children safe? »

In case you missed it ...

Last night on Garrard McClendon Live we had a heated discussion about CPS and school funding. Rev. Ira Acree was our guest. He and Rev. Meeks are calling for students to miss the first day of class to protest school funding.

Do you think it's a good idea to have your child miss the first day of school? What's your thoughts on school funding?

Check out the video clips and post your comments. I want to hear from you!!!

Try this one: to make it fair on both sides maybe "Garrard McClendon Live" should go into the Chicago schools hallways and maybe even classrooms to see if there is something more alarming than what it seems to those of us that don't quite agree with Senator Meeks' tactic.

If there is something really horrible then maybe extreme measures are in place. If there is nothing out of the norm then maybe it's just an extremist act. Whichever the actuality perhaps this would shed more light on what all the fuss is about.

Listening to the radio today I heard a woman speak on less than professional attitudes that the teaching staff illustrates toward the students in these schools in question. That, with lack of funding is a problem.

How 'bout it? Why not do a "CPS" CLTV field report in all fairness to the protestors?

Wow! I should be a judge, getting a judges salary or a t.v. producer.

Just kidding!

Or am I?

Whatever...Do it for the kids G'!

Carlita:

Chicago, Chicago, Chicago:
The Call-ins, the host Deddie and your comments Gerald are all good, however, somebody need to make a move and move quickly. Gerald Starting with your comment, "every man in their neighborhood should be held accountable for allowing drugs being sold." Gerald the men can get together, but some of the men maybe the dope pushers. I believe that the men and the district counselor should report to their local police department and the police department place a watch and cameras in that neighborhood. The gangs as you stated are local terroist. If the police needs back-up, then they need to call in the national quards to bring the drug terroist down. It is sad to say, but we've got a genuine war going on in Chicago. The Mayor and those others in high places supposingly made a deal with the Mayor of Gary to bring some of the terroist to Indiana and now Indiana is getting worse. I think that America has taught its citizen to be greedy and live a selfish life and this includes those preachers who have taken God's Holy Word and turned it into a book to pimp God's children. Some books are inspirational, but some books are written just for money and they know who they are. Marvin Gaye said it well, "what's going on, children today will suffer tommorrow, who really cares, who willingly to try to save a world that is destine to die." You people in high places better get it together cause God don't like it when you mess with his children. Stop gambling with the children's lives and do what is right. Make it possible for every child to come into their destiny as much as possible. America has more money than we know about and if people can spend big money to go to sport events then give to the children.
Peace!!!

ANGELA:

THE TRUTH IS THAT "ANY EFFORT" AT THIS POINT IS NECESSARY. MAKE WAVES AT ANY MEANS POSSIBLE. STUDENTS, PARENTS, COMMUNITIES, "ANY ONE" WHO EVEN CARES SHOULD TAKE A STANCE FOR CHANGE.

THE SYSTEM IS IN NEED OF EXTREME HELP AND IF A MOVEMENT DOESN'T BEGIN SOON... THE SCHOOLS WILL BE IN WORSE SITUATION THAN THEY ARE NOW - PRETTY UN-IMAGINABLE!

I AGREE WITH YOUR IDEAS GARRARD. KEEP MAKIN WAVES!!!

LOIS MORROW:

WHILE I WISH REV MEEKS HAD FOUND ANOTHER WAY TO SHED LIGHT ON THIS SUBJECT OF INEQUALITY IN OUR SCHOOL SYSTEM I APPLAUDE HIM FOR BEING BRAVE ENOUGH TO DO WHAT NONE OF US EVEN ME HAVE NOT AND ARE NOT WILLING TO DO. AS FOR THE COUNTLESS NUMBER OF EDUCATORS THAT HAVE BEEN A PART OF THE SYSTEM FOR MANY MANY YEARS AND DID NOTHING DON,T YOU EVEN OPEN YOUR MOUTH TO COMPLAIN ABOUT HOW IT WAS HANDELED. MY SUGGESTION IF THIS GOES ON AND NEED TO BE REPEATED IS TO HAVE THE CHILDREN GO TO SCHOOL AND THE PARENT AND CONCERNED PERSONS LOAD ONTO THOSE BUSES AND GOE TO CONFRONT THE MAYOR THE GOVENOR AND TEACHER UNION REPRESENTATIVES ALL OF WHICH HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR MANY YEARS
