True Meaning of July 4th

Remember what this day means. It's about country and pride. It's about the troops serving now and those who served in years past. Think about the men and women who sacrificed for your freedom. What does July 4th mean to you? As you hang out with family and friends, and barbecue in the backyard, just take a second to reflect on Independence Day. In Arlington Heights, they found a way to continue a tradition that has been around since 1976. Thousands lined the streets for the annual parade. Volunteers helped raise money to keep the parade afloat. Many towns and communities had to cut back and cancel fireworks displays and parades because of the economy. Why do you think we forget on days like this to pause for its true meaning? Do we get caught up in just having the day off? Is it parents not teaching the younger generation about these holidays? Red, white, and blue. Colors with hundreds of years of blood, sweat, and sacrifice.
