Fewer Tasters at the Taste

The numbers are in, and this Taste of Chicago wasn't terrific for the City.

Attendance totaled 3,350,000- that's a couple hundred thousand shy of last year.

A spokeswoman with the Mayor's Office of Special Events blames three days of rain and the economy.

What do you blame?

As for other numbers you might find interesting, here's what was consumed:

140,000 pounds of turkey legs

53,000 cheeseburgers

10,000 pounds of gyros

10,000 gallons of goat meat

10,000 pounds of hush puppies

240,000 slices of pizza

128,000 pounds of jerk chicken

I went there for three days in a row on my lunch break! I did notice a decrease in attendance. I think it's because of the current state of the economy; people don't have money to throw around just yet.
