Hundreds of family members went to Rainbow/Push Coalition headquarters Saturday, looking for help. Families were giving officials details about their loved ones, possibly gearing up to join another class action lawsuit. They came with pictures of the deceased, maps to their grave sites, and lists on names. Can you imagine? One attorney said, "I didn't believe the story when it first came out. I actually thought it was a joke. I thought something like this could never happen in the United States." That's the thought of so many. How could this happen? How could the four people charged with dismembering a human body go through with this crime? Money, money money. But apparently they only made $300,000 over several years. What's next? These families will never be made whole. Some of their loved ones may never be found or identified. My prayers go out to them. Let's hope justice is served. According to Gwendolyn Blake, one of the hundreds upset, "That would be these criminals prosecuted to the full extent of the law." Many others want to see much worse.

My father, a Chicago Police Office shot and killed in the line of duty, is buried at Burr Oak, along with his mother and many (at least 10-12 family members) of his (and my) relatives. What an unbelievable breach of trust. The sheer depth of this crime and the investigation into it may mean that many of us who entrusted Burr Oak Cemetery with the remains of our love ones will never see closure.

I am lost for words when it comes to the punishment that they should get.
