I remember my first trip to Brookfield Zoo.
I was in the 4th grade.
My class took a bus there all the way from Markham. It seemed liked such a long trip.

I soaked up every exhibit, even the monkeys and the elephants, and I never complained about the smell.
A couple of years later, my mother would buy me my first pet; a tiny, green iguana I named Iggy.
From there, I went on to own snakes, dogs, turtles, rabbits, spiders and even a pet chicken. And just think, it all began at the zoo.
Today marks the 75th anniversary of Brookfield Zoo. As I walked around the special exhibits, I fell in love with the place all over again.
If you have some free time this year, go check out the zoo. It's not just for kids you know.
