Bears Breaking Apart Already?

Bears training camp starts tomorrow (Friday). But it sounds like there’s already some “bruising” going on.

Yesterday former Bear and current Viking Bobby Wade told a Minnesota radio station that last week, while he was hanging out with Brian Urlacher, Urlacher told him, he doesn’t really care for new Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.

Specifically, Wade said, “I don't want to get him in trouble, but it wasn't what [the Bears] expected. Pretty much [Urlacher] said Jay Cutler was a [wimp] for the most part."

The word Wade used was more like “wussy” with a “p” instead of a “w.”

Urlacher was quick to tell the Tribune, "Look, Bobby Wade's a friend of mine. He's trying to get things going before training camp. That's just Bobby being Bobby. I'm pretty sure Jay knows I wouldn't say that about him."

As the Trib’s David Haugh points out…

Theoretically, Urlacher and Cutler don't have to like each other or even get along… with neither guy on the field at the same time other than possibly for a coin flip, a friendship is a luxury. Hall of Fame defensive lineman Dan Hampton, for example, liked the idea of having knee surgery more than having a beer with quarterback Jim McMahon.

Now, I prefer teammates get along so they can act as one unit, whether they’re on the field or not.

But just in case that’s wishful thinking, is this a bad omen for the season to come?
