« Michael Jackson Memorial Brings Out Hundreds In Chicago | Main | CLTV SPORTS :60: Put It On The Board, YES! »

Are You Willing to Donate for Jackson Memorial?

The city of Los Angeles has set up a website asking Michael Jackson's fans to donate to help pay for his memorial service.

A spokesman for Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa estimates the service will cost the city between $1.5 million dollars and $4 million dollars. Some city officials say Los Angeles is already facing a massive budget deficit, and cannot afford to foot the bill.

The website launched Tuesday morning, and links viewers up to a Paypal account where you can help defray the memorial costs with credit card contributions.

Do you think it is appropriate for Los Angeles to ask for donations to pay for the thousands of police officers and workers enlisted to provide security for the memorial?

Well put to the first comment. I will not donate to the fund. I think it is insane. I think the increase of sales of his music as of late is enough of a donation don't you think? No one is going to the poor house with this man's death. It is ridiculous that these is even being asked of.

He was a freak, but a talented one. I will give him that. I grew up with him in the 80's and I will remember MJ like that and not the person he turned out to be.

And he must not have loved his family enough b/c he would not have done what he did. Selfish, sorry to say, but selfish.

Brandon Frame:

No,...and here's why. I have been a supporter to Micheal Jackson my entire life by purchasing albums. I am a supporter of the music, not of the man. He took all of the money that he had earned, and spent it on rediculous fantasies, such as all of the plastic surgery and pigmintation surgery. I do not condemn him for his mishaps or his loose spending, and I will always love the music. I just do not see me spending more of my HARD earned money supporting something that the city that put it on SHOULD be able to handle. If the city of L.A. wants to support a celebrity funeral/service, then they need to be ready for all of the expenses. I will never ask for anyone else to pay for my funeral. I make my way, every step. And, I hope that Michaels' family doesn't expect the people to over extend themselves, when the celebrities that attended could easily cover the bill.

Bobby Ward:

Yes, I would donate to Mr. Michael Jackson memorial.
