This was a crucial day for Chicago’s Olympic delegation.
The group is in Switzerland where it pitched the city’s bid to host the 2016 Summer Games to members of the International Olympic Committee.
Madrid, Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro also pitched their cities.
Of course, President Obama is big backer of Chicago hosting the Games -- so much so that the White House sent a video message reiterating his support for the city’s bid.
But, in a bit of a surprise, the president was not in the video; his senior advisor Valerie Jarrett delivered the short speech instead.
The other three finalist cities had video messages with their heads of state. Certainly the president is busy these days with other major issues -- in recent days he has unveiled his grand plans to overhaul health care and the financial regulatory system.
So it's really impossible to criticize his decision to skip the Olympic video.
Nevertheless, do you think Obama not appearing in Chicago’s video will hurt the city’s chances of getting the Games?
