Taxes, Taxes, and More Taxes

The state senate approved a 67% income tax increase, more than the original 50% increase proposed earlier. It also wants to put the state sales tax on 39 services not taxed now, from taxi rides, to movie theaters, to bowling alleys, to cable television, to internet providers, to labor on oil changes, to health clubs, and list the goes on. WOW! Can you believe it? How angry are you about these new developments? At this time, these issues still have to go before the Illinois House, so these are not done deals. But the thought of this seems crazy. It once again will cost more to do everything. How would you fix the budget? Chicago is already facing the highest sales tax in the country. One health club owner says, "They always go to the consumer, the small business owner. It's ridiculous." Some out there though believe we need these higher taxes in order to keep vital services running. I guess that's the catch. Cut government or raise taxes? What would you do?
