Christine K:

Today I took the opportunity to vote just before the noontime hour in the Troy precinct 4 voting district here in the far western part of Joliet. At our library branch where three Troy districts vote, 4; 8; and 16, the only problem we had was finding a place to park. Voters share the parking lot at the library with library patrons and anyone who uses the Will County forest preserve park trails behind the library. Because of this, people were parking at the local elementary school next to the library, where we used to vote, taking advantage of a connecting roadway for school buses to use to take advantage of a new street light at the libary. Even the local Greek church opened their parking lot for voters to have a place to park. Lines were very typical. In other words, they were no longer than four or five people at the most. Election judges were as usual very helpful and very cheerful and the process was very easy as always.

Here in Will and the surrounding counties in junior college district 525, we have the issue of a bond that could fund improvements and expansions to the nursing, culinary, and automotive programs at Joliet Junior College. The 82 plus million dollar bond put before the voters will provide new buildings and renovations to existing buildings. All in all, outside of the hot races for the White House and the vacant house district 11 seat this bond issue is one of the most important things people will be voting on today as it could bring upwards of eight thousand new jobs to the Joliet area. It's a good day to vote in this state.
