Um, I am Sorry. What is 'Twilight? '

“Ooh my gosh he’s so cute” -- Now, I will admit, Robert Pattinson has all the makings of a Hollywood heartthrob; a lovely British accent, thick, unruly hair, and a smile to melt even the coldest hearts.
But if you are wondering who the hell Robert Pattinson is -- he is the star of the screen adaptation of the best selling novel “Twilight” by author Stephenie Meyer.
“Twilight” focuses on the romance between Edward (Pattinson) and 17 year old Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart). Their love story has been compared to “Romeo and Juliet,” with its theme of forbidden love, but there’s a twist. Edward is really an 100 year old vampire. Oh snaps.
Ok, so kill me if you wish… but why all the hype around this book /movie?

How much different is this really from the whole Buffy-the-Vampire-Slayer-loves-Angel-the-Vampire saga?
This week the “Twilight” star ventured across country promoting the film and everywhere he went he was greeted by hundreds of screaming fans. An appearance in San Francisco on Wednesday produced more than a thousand fans. Things got so out of hand and several people were hurt, resulting in the event being canceled.
Last night more than 500 fans waited outside Orland Square Mall for a chance to meet Pattinson. While no riots occurred, some fans were pretty pissed off that the wristbands granting access to the event were actually handed out at midnight instead of the day before (weren't they supposed to be handed out the morning of?) as previously announced. So for most “Twilight” super fans the next (or only) chance they’ll get to see Pattinson is next week on the big screen.
