This is such a historic event and I am so proud of him and totally estatic. When I was a little girl each time the president's election came around, I would ask my parent's how come a black man can't run. I was told that I would probable never see it..atleast not in my lifetime..well I am so glad this statement was incorrect..I have been waiting a long time for this, America has waited a long time for this. This election was not only significant because we now have a black man as the president but...not only can little black boys aspire to be president's but women as well. This election was very signigicant for women in this country, as a little girl growing up I only saw white males in high positions but as time began to pass and things began to change women began to move up the ladders of success rapidly. So, this election was great, we now have a black man as our President, one woman who gave him a very good run for his money during the primary and let's not forget about Palin, the first woman to be placed on a ticket to have her chance at being vice president of the United States. This election has truly opened the doors for the younger generations to come just as Rosa Parks, Martin Luther, W.E.B Dubois, Kate Sheppard, and many others has done to open the doors for us now, to be able to elect in a black man. One thing we have to always remember is that CHANGE does not happen over night. It was stated by Robert Kennedy that one day a "Negro" may be president, and this was over 40 yrs ago. So what does America have in store for us within the next 40, I don't know but I believe that the only way to go is up!! And I plan to be here to see. God Bless America!
i think it was a well run election and he wasn't given it, he earned the right, i was listening to a show tonight and a woman said hes an arab program to get into the white house to hurt the country, i have never been so ashamed of another human being in my life. they yell white man, black man, well according to my bible that's not what the lord created , he created humans, i think its wrong some of the negatives things people are saying about him . and i think its time america take responsiblity for their part in the destruction of this country, to all the people that voted bush in for a second term you are also responsible for the destruction of our country, you need to look in the mirror and say yes i helped cause the problems of our country today when i voted for him for a second term. and not continue to show disrespect for a man who ran not for power or glory but his love of this country and his conviction to help make it better for all americans.
When I was a little girl in the 60's I dreamed of being a doctor. People told me no you can't and Martin Luther King told me yes you can. In the 70's when I was in High School, I dreamed of being a doctor and the Bakke decision occured. People told me no you can't but Jesse Jackson told me you are somebody and yes you can. Today I AM. Now I look at my grandchildren and i know that nobody can tell them NO YOU CAN'T. Barak says YES YOU CAN!
The most historic election in our nation's history. President Obama -- goosebumps! -- will once again bring our nation respect and credibility around the world! YES WE DID!
This is an historic event and I am very excited to be alive to share this moment with my kids. This is just another way to provide to our kids that hard work, dedication, and God on our side we can accomplish anything.
