Eternity Gaddy should be picking out an outfit to wear on the first day of school. Eternity Gaddy should be thinking about what she wants to become when she grows up.
There are so many things this precious little girl should be doing right now. But sadly enough, she will never get the chance.
The 13-year-old practical joker, who loved her friends, music and makeup died yesterday. She was struck in the head by a stray bullet early Sunday morning during a visit to her old Humboldt Park neighborhood.
The eighth grader moved to Allentown, Pennsylvania with her mother in 1994 to get away from Chicago's violence and gang activity.
So far, police have made no arrests and have no suspects for her murder.
When I saw Eternity's picture with her big beautiful smile, I immediately thought of another little girl who just like Eternity, was a victim of violence in Chicago.
On July 14th, 9-year-old Mya Lyons was found stabbed to death in an alley near her father's South Side home. Her murder remains unsolved.

My heart aches for both of these innocent little girls and their families. Combined, Eternity and Mya lived just 22 years. That's more than a tragedy - it's damn shame.
What will it take for the killings to come to an end?
I wish I knew.
What I do know is that children deserve a chance to grow up.
What I do know is that I want police find the bloodthirsty leeches that continue taking lives and put them behind bars for a very, very long time.

This really was a tragedy. Another young life lost due to young people running around with guns -- and for a girl named Eternity!
