« Gov. Palin Shoots and Scores! | Main | McCain's Acceptance Speech »

McCain's Moment

Tonight is in many ways a dream come true for John McCain. As he formally accepts the Republican nomination for president it will be the culmination of a years-long journey, tasting the victory denied him by then-Texas Governor George W. Bush in 2000.

After a week of blistering partisan speeches including an explosive one by his running mate Sarah Palin, it appears McCain will strike a more bipartisan tone in his address tonight.

Here's one excerpt from his forthcoming acceptance speech:

“Again and again, I’ve worked with members of both parties to fix problems that need to be fixed.”

The venue is even being retro-fitted to give the Xcel Energy Center more of a town-hall feel, except without the back and forth of a question and answer session between McCain and the party faithful.

Advisors say the format will make McCain, not known for his oratory in more formal settings, more comfortable.

It brings up a question.

Given the positive reviews (even by critics who disagreed with the contents) of Obama's speech to a gargantuan crowd of more than 80,000 last week, is the bar lower for McCain?

And can he top the roof-rising response Palin received Wednesday? Does he even want to?

Weigh in here

It is very hard for me to believe McCain's speech when his Former (recently resigned) Financial Advisor....his right hand man stated that "America has become a Nation of Winers" and that we are not in a recession. McCain has agreed that this Nation is not in a recession....well at least up until recently. Not one man can turn this country around. It is going to take the entire Nation. If you look at McCains top advisors and running buddies they do not stand for the low and middle class Americans. I bet we know how many houses we own!

Military Experience- I don't downplay his patriotism at all however I have family members who have fought Vietnam...who was a POW. However, it really seemed as though he was geering up the crowd to prepare for war. More of the bully rhetoric that has gotten us into the situation that we are in...alienating us from our very own Allies! We need a President that not just Americans but others across the World truly believe wants to correct the wrong and mend the relationships and keep their promises without hidden agenda's!

What makes Senator Obama different is that he has shown that he is not afraid to reach out to those that are more experienced than him. He is not afraid to turn away special interest group and give the power to the people. More importantly, I have seen where Obama may have made a decision about something and after realizing that it could be done better...not afraid to say so and then change. McCain has voted over 90% of the time supporting Bush when somebody should have said "Hold Up..We have made a mistake!!!"...and then do something about it! No...there message is..."we messed up and now we must carry it out and we will not apologize or admit we were wrong. And that I believe will be the difference in America's ability to recover. Sadly to say, that characteristic of Obama has been critisized as wishy washy. If anyone promises to get in office and execute every move perfectly should scare you silly!

As for Palin, I just watched a special on Alaska and how the people live in poverty there and there is no help. How many must relocate because of the dangerous habitat due to global warming and is not giving any real help. ...and McCain is pushes to drill for oil!!! HMMMM....sounds like She's selling out her own people!

My last comment is if you have His speech on video notice how he makes certain facial expression and gestures right after he promises things that contradict his record! Interesting!!!!!!
