Still Waiting for My Text Message!

obiden.jpg

What the “bleep” Obama? I woke up yesterday morning at 12:45am and the first thing I did was check my phone… no new text messages. And as I drove to work to start my early morning producer shift I made my daily call to the news desk to see if there was any breaking news overnight. And guess what? There was. Denise our night side desk assistant told me Obama picked Biden it was all over CNN and his website and she asked me did I get a text message and I simply replied no.

A couple of hours later at 3:30 am my co-producer Lindsey’s phone starts beeping and she looks at me and says who could be texting me this late…. I just raised my eyebrow.
Then she stats laughing and says its from Obama, immediately I grab my phone … and nothing! I felt cheated! Then Judy Wang walks into the newsroom talking about how she got a text message from Obama this morning and how she knew last night before she went to bed that he had already chosen Biden.
So what happened Obama, you strung your supporters and the media along all day --and finally someone got impatient and leaked your choice out… so whose bright idea was it to send texts at the crack of dawn?
I got an email announcing your choice at 4:30 am an hour after Lindsey got her text. I must say I am a little disappointed in the whole I am going to show how cool and down I am by using technology to my advantage plan. Because it didn’t work! It’s almost 8 am on Sunday and I am still waiting for my text message.
Did any of you get a text or email? And if so what time did it come?

J. Buggs:

Obama didn't get that txt msg out to you because he was cooking up that amazing oratory experience he unleashed in Denver.

Also, from an IT standpoint, computers/technology will always fail at a critical moment (like when you really want it to work!) Between keeping a lid on the "secret" and the msg going out to everyone at the same time, that strategy didn't have a chance!

Keep up the good work!

L.M. Clanton:

I too am a little disappointed that I didn't receive a txt message until AFTER I heard the VP pick on CNN.

Matt Brooks:

I didn't get a damn thing! I thought we was tight Obama! Lol
