I must admit. I am completely obsessed with the Olympics.
Whether it's watching tiny gymnasts tumble their way to gold (and praying that they don't fall), watching the world's fastest men and women sprint 100 meters in less than 10 seconds, or holding my breath as swimmers glide through the water like fish, chasing their dreams. It is simply amazing to watch.
I think my love affair with the Olympics comes from my deep respect for the athletes. When you hear their stories of how much they've trained and sacrificed, you can't help but feel like you know them. You can't help but root them on to win.

And, the games bring people together like no other major sporting event. It rejuvenates our pride in this country. It's why the news media always report the medal count. We all want to know if the U.S. is winning more than its foreign counterparts (right now we are).
By the way, did you know that there are a number of Chicago-area Olympians competing in Beijing? Swimmers, Christine Magnuson of Tinley Park and Matt Grevers of Lake Forest, have already picked up medals.
What do you think? Are you Olympics obsessed? What's your favorite sport to watch in the games?
