We all know that the key to living a healthy life is twofold: eating well and exercising often. A new study says that a diet packed with fruits and veggies and moderate exercise may help reduce your risk of developing Alzheimer's.

Dealing With Hairloss

Do you ever wash your hair and freak out when you see clumps of hair in your hands? I know I do. Usually, the hair loss is normal (shedding is a natural process), but sometimes hormonal changes, thyroid disease and even prescription drugs can cause hair loss. Regardless of whether you're a man or woman, the experience is usually devastating.

Working out is an excellent way to keep your body in shape, but if you're not careful, you could get seriously injured.

We checked in with Dr. Vishal Mehta of Fox Valley Orthopedics for tips on preventing ankle injuries.

The other day, my 9 a.m. appointment at the doctor's office ran 45-minutes late. And when I was finally escorted into the check -up room, I had to wait alone for another 10 minutes. Bored to tears and draped in a compromising gown, I realized that appointments would be so much more efficient if patients came armed with a few tools.

HEART LOU.jpg

In the near future on Living Healthy Chicago, you'll see a feature on "the heart scan." If this doesn't get your attention, nothing will. Dr. George Kondos who's one of the most respected cardiologists in the world sat down and talked with Living Healthy Chicago recently at the University of Illinois-Chicago hospital.

For many of us, we're currently making choices on health care for the upcoming year. And now is a perfect time to think about your health. Your health care decisions during open enrollment play a big roll in how well you'll be taking care of yourself in 2009.

So while you are thinking healthcare, you should really start to think about what exams you'll need in 2009, what tests you may need and all the preventive care you may have put off in 2008.

Here's some tips for you. Remember, there's nothing more important than your health.

The modern day Fountain of Youth comes in the shape of a tiny needle. Living Healthy Chicago's Andrea Metcalf stopped into Dr. Stacie McClane's office at the Chicago Plastic Surgery Center to erase fine lines, plump up her thinning lips and learn more about today's most popular non-surgical injectables. Check out our videos or visit Dr. McClane's website to learn more.

Combating Infertility

If you and your partner are having a difficulty time conceiving, you may be able to find help at the Center for Reproductive Health in Joliet and Geneva. Living Healthy Chicago's Andrea Metcalf recently sat down with Dr. Scott Springer to learn more about In Vitro fertilization and the importance of egg quality.
