The 3 Cs of Flu Prevention

HANDS.jpgFlu season is upon us and with the widespread fears surrounding H1N1, it's never been more important to guard your health.

We recently visited the DuPage County Health Department to learn more about staying flu-free this year. Here are some of their helpful tips:

THE 3 Cs OF FLU PREVENTION

Clean: Wash your hands frequently and properly to prevent the spread of germs.
Use warm water, plenty of soap and sing the "Happy Birthday" song twice to make sure you are scrubbing your hands long enough.

Cover: Cover your cough and sneeze using a tissue or sleeve.
If you use a tissue, make sure you throw it away immediately to prevent the spread of germs to clean surfaces or other people.

Contain: Contain your germs by staying home when you are sick.
You should not go to work or school for 24 hours after your flu breaks without the help of fever-reducing medicine
