Lou's Diet Diary: I Just Can't Stop

Monday night, I was invited to the 20 year anniversary at Gibson's restaurant. I knew I was going to eat like it was "the last meal," so I ran 3 miles before I got to the restaurant and it still didn't help. I really tried to be good as one can at a steakhouse like Gibson's!

I started with a glass of Pinot Grigio (not bad), then a dinner salad with vinagrette dressing instead of something creamy (still good). Ok, this is where I started to get bad but if you've ever been to Gibson's, the best steak on the menu and the best steak in the city is the W.R. Chicago Cut.

The Chicago Cut is a 22 ounce rib eye on the bone with lots of marble (ok, I could've gone for something smaller but ya only live once and the steak was only $23), then we also got an order of french fries for the table (I could've done without those!), I split a baked potato with my wife (could've done without the sour cream), took a big piece of my wife's filet (wasn't my own 22 ounce steak enough?!?), and shared some broccoli with the table (probably the healthiest thing I ate all night). Now are you ready for the topper??? We ordered the MONSTER turtle pie they serve at Gibson's for dessert and I chowed down on a large piece of that as well!!! By the time I saw Mayor Daley and Alderman Ed Burke on my way out of the place, I was stuffed like a pig. Is it any wonder I couldn't sleep Monday night?
