A new report was released this week outlining America's fittest cities. Washington D.C. came in first. How do you think Chicago ranked?
The study, conducted by the American College of Sports Medicine, ranks us at 25. It's important to note that the rankings take into account a lot of factors, ranging from access to healthcare, to number of parks per capita. But the study got me thinking: on a more superficial and totally non-scientific level, how fit and healthy do Chicagoans seem to you?
As we all know, the entire country is dealing with an obesity epidemic, but based on what you observe when you're at work, running errands or simply bar-hopping, do you think most Chicagoans look fit or way too fat?
I sometimes find it hard to stay active in Chicago, especially during our notoriously cold winters when there's nothing I'd rather do than hibernate in my warm, cozy apartment. And when it comes to food, Chicago's delicious culinary options (Pequod's pizza, anyone?) tempt me all year round. What do you struggle with and how do you stay healthy in this beautiful city of ours? Leave us a comment and let us know!
