Under the Weather At the Gym

cold pic.jpg

Ever since I returned from Miami, I've been fighting the worst cold I've had in years. I guess South Beach will do that to you if you're 44-yr-old and have no discipline! Anyway, for the last 9 days, I've been filling my body with Tylenol Cold Medicine, orange juice, green tea, water, soup and basically everything else you resort to for a common cold.

In the meantime, I was way too tired and sore to even think about working out until Monday! I literally DRAGGED myself to the gym. I was actually drinking green tea as I was working out. I still felt horrible, but because I had a cold in my head and not my chest, I thought a good sweat would help me feel better. And it did! I ran 3 miles for a half hour on the treadmill. I sweated my butt off!!! I then sat in the steam room for 10 minutes before taking a hot shower. When I left East Bank Club, I felt more energy than I had in the last week. Most importantly, I got the best night of sleep I've had in 2 weeks!!! If you're fighting a cold, sleep is most important and a workout can be good too!
