I am writing this blog from Cabo San Lucas. A beautiful place to be when Chicago's winter is giving us the best white Christmas in years, I hear. Notwithstanding, I started thinking this morning of all the wonderful things to be grateful for and the things I want to happen this coming 2009. It is with this thought that I write you today, believing that living healthy is more than just a good diet and exercise regimen.

We all will have our New Year's resolutions, and as I look ahead, one of mine will have to do with working out. About 6 years ago, I used to workout in the mornings. While doing the Huge Show on ESPN Radio, and my nightly sports show on CLTV, I found mornings to be my only time free for a workout. Ever since, I've pushed my workouts to nighttime, and frankly, I've come up with excuses to slack.
I forgot how good a workout playing basketball gives ya. Monday we shot our show at the Midtown Athletic Club in Willowbrook. Those folks at Midtown are so hospitable, and I haven't worked out at a nicer club. Anyway, I played a little hoops following our shoot and the cardio workout was as good as any I've had in a while.

If you're still searching for the perfect holiday gift for your friends or loved ones, why not give them something that will help them look, live and feel better? Below are some of my favorite health-related gift ideas:
Gym Membership: Treat your loved one to a personal training session at their gym (who doesn't want customized care?) or give them a headstart on their New Years resolution by buying them a year-long membership at a gym nearby their home or office.
Hey OPRAH
I am a fitness trainer in Chicago and I know Bob Green helped you in the past but I would give anything to meet with you and have a consultation. I can help you! I can be your reminder to stay on track~ not only have I helped others lose weight but as a woman I understand your thyroid condition and hormonal differences being a woman achieving and maintaining it all!

Most of us love spaghetti and meatballs, but if you're watching your weight, you know the carbs in the pasta kill ya! Well, my wife, Monica, has come up with a GREAT alternative.
Staying motivated is most challenging on the days that progress is slow or stagnant. Here are a few tips to keep up your program.
1) Make small VICTORY goals... these are the baby steps to your main goal-- for weight loss it should be 10% of your body weight goals that you reach (ie. if you are 200 pounds and trying to lose weight- your first VICTORY GOAL is 20 pounds, then 18 etc. until you reach your goal.
As the days get shorter and the sun sets around 4:30 in Chicago, it's a good idea to be "lit up and reflective" while exercising in the dark. I came across a hat with a blinking light on the back and reflective clothing. Although, I was familiar with Brooks as a specialty running shoe, I was unaware of their nightlife line of clothing.
Ok, now a week removed from stuffing myself more than we stuffed the turkey, I'm finally able to get a good workout in. Seriously, I worked out Friday, the day after Thanksgiving and still felt lethargic because I had eaten so much on Thursday. The weekend was a busy one. I was pulling Christmas decorations out of storage and tending to my Chicago Bears TV duties on Sunday. This meant, I couldn't workout until Tuesday. I've learned that at the age of 44, no matter how hard you workout, the results don't come as quickly
I recently received the Core Rhythms Dance Exercise Program. It comes with 4 DVD's and a 7 Day Diet guide. I have some experience in dance from my college cheerleading and gymnastics days,
