The new trailer for "Batman: The Dark Knight" has just mesmerized me with its awesomeness. It's got more than enough Heath Ledger to get you fired up for July 18th. Just look at some of the little touches he's adding to the Joker, particularly that freakish tongue smacking around his scarred lips. They're not kidding when they say this guy was into the role. Wow. Watch the full trailer in fantastic HD video.....here.
Marcus Leshock here! Summer movie season is officially here, the most exciting time of year for movie fans everywhere! Instead of doing your traditional Summer Movie Preview 2008, I've decided to actually rank the top 8 movies of the summer without seeing one of them! This way we can all sit down in September and have a good laugh at how wrong I was. So keep reading after the jump for my Top 8 movies on summer 2008, complete with each of their trailers!
Ever wonder what it's like on a "metromix on CLTV" on location shoot? You never know what's going to happen. But the one thing I've learned? Just roll with it. Here's a little clip of a man who approached us when we were putting together last fall's movie special. Since then nearly 8,000 people have viewed this clip on YouTube. So Kokomo Joe, wherever you are, you're a star in cyberspace!
No, baby! Saw this one on AintItCoolNews. Apparently Mike Myers and director Jay Roach have OK'd a script for yet another Austin Powers sequel. I thought this franchise tired out at 2, let alone 3 movies. But a 4th film? Let's hope they don't recycle the same old jokes - for the 4th time!
An article on boston.com is reporting that both Myers and Roach will soon meet with the potential new Powers-Girl soon. Keep reading after the jump to see who it could be....
"Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" drops on DVD tomorrow. If you haven't seen it, I thought it was one of the funnier films of 2007. It's definitely worth a look. I was given a few minutes to sit down and sit with the legend himself, Mr. John C. Reilly, before his concert appearance at the Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville. Here's the uncut interview:
Marcus Leshock here. I'll be an honorary judge at this year's Reality Bytes Student Documentary Film Festival, put on by my alma mater - the Department of Communication at Northern Illinois University. The fest features 17 films, all under 30 minutes in length, free of charge! Topics include everything from the homeless in DeKalb county, to Roller Derby leagues, and the photographers at the Times-Picayune newspaper in New Orleans who photographed the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. A full list of all the movies, including dates and times of screenings, after the jump....

abcnews.com received an early copy of Oliver Stone's script for his Bush biopic now in production. The article on their site (which can be found here) offers plenty of spoilers, but if you want to be suprised, expect to see a W with a LOT of Daddy issues. As expected, the movie is pretty critical of Bush's rush to war with Iraq, and his days as a heavy-drinking party guy. It's slated for release in 2009 but could be rushed in time for this election season.
As big as March Madness is, there are still many people who aren't caught up in NCAA Tournament pools. But if you're feeling left out of all the "bracket" talk, The Chicago Tribune set up a different kind of tournament. It's a competition to determine the best Chicago movie.
Supporters for Gotham's famed District Attorney candidate Harvey Dent (a.k.a. 2 Face) hit Chicago to try and win over some of the city's finest. Some people showed up with signage they printed from home and others just stopped by to see why Cee-Lo from Gnarles Barkley was yelling into a megaphone.
More pics after the jump...
The much hyped Incredible Hulk trailer debuted yesterday on MTV. Of the forthcoming super-hero movies this trailer is by far the worst behind The Dark Knight & Iron Man. Don't know if that means much.
See for yourself after the cut.
Thats right kiddies the Dark Knight rolls back through Chicago on Thursday.
The P.R. juggernaut behind the new Batman will revisit the Windy City tomorrow in the form of the Dent Mobile.
More details if you keep reading...
Two new Speed Racer trailers are out this week. All we gather from them is Speed is angry, wants revenge and will race his green screen heart out until he's satisfied.
Watch what we're talking about after the jump...
UPDATE: The trailers have been yanked from the tube. So I guess you'll have to super sleuth them out.
We knew they'd make a movie about her life, but it looks like the Anna Nicole bio-pic is almost done. Complete with a possible ressurection of Willa Ford's career.
Watch it after the cut...
MLB spring training is officially here. While I was listening to my Chicago Cubs battle the San Francisco Giants over the weekend, I realized how much I really missed baseball. Now besides 100 tough years for Cubs fans....baseball has also given us some of the best films ever made. I've put together a list of my favorite baseball films of all time, ranked them, and I am ready to share 'em with the world! Check out my list, complete with video clips, after the jump....

Yep, the Weinstein Company sent out a press release today announcing their latest venture, a movie about the life of Bob Marley. It will be called "No Woman, No Cry," based on the book by Rita Marley, his widow. Rudy Langlais (“The Hurricane”) is set to produce the film from a script written by Lizzie Borden (“Working Girls”). More details will be announced soon...maybe who will play him? You see my pick above - Mos Def. He's got the look, the skill, and the musical talent. We'll wait and see who the Weinstein's go with...but if I hear Will Smith....I'm officially sitting this one out. You can read the full press release after the jump....

Hey all, Marcus Leshock here. I know I posted the hilarious, kinda anti-Hillary "Election" video a few weeks back. In fairness, this morning I ran across this new ad on YouTube using many of Jack Nicholson's famous characters to make the pitch for Hillary. As you may know, he is one of her supporters. Thought I'd post it up...find it right after the jump.....

That's right, not only is Six Flags Great America in Gurnee getting a new roller coaster, but it's going to themed after Batman: The Dark Knight. Not sure if this will replace the current Batman coaster. Here's a quick description from the Six Flags website:
Venture through demented hallways of twists, turns and hallucinatory images, while being tormented by The Joker himself......You can only guess at what awaits as you speed through six 180-degree hairpin turns, climb unseen hills, plunge into pitch darkness and dip into unforeseen danger. As you attempt to escape the terror, your only hope is that Gotham's Silent Guardian — Batman — can save you!
You can read the full descrip here. Aint It Cool News has some leaked design art for the ride that hasn't been released yet. See that here. Looks awesome!
This could be one of the summer's funniest movies. It better be, with two of the funniest guys on the planet playing (step)brothers.
Look for this one in theaters July 25th.
We had highlights from my interview with Will Ferrell on "metromix" tonight! He's got "Semi-Pro" opening this weekend, but above you see the poster for another movie he's got opening this year - "Step Brothers" with John C. Reilly! Check back into the blog tomorrow for my uncut interview with Will. After the jump, you'll find video from my past interviews with the funny guy, who is absolutely one of the nicest, and most humble people in Hollywood. Keep reading.....

That's right. The star of "There Will Be Blood" called into the Nick Digilio Show on WGN Radio 720AM while I was a guest to celebrate his Best Actor Oscar. Hilarity ensued.
Star Wars according to a three year old. She should write any future sequels:
I was really pumped "Once" won the Best Original Song Oscar last night. We had Glen and Marketa on "metromix" when "Once" opens in theatres. If you still haven't seen it, shame on you! But here's the clip of Glen, Marketa, and director John Carney talking about the movie, and stumming a Van Morrison tune for us on Michigan Avenue:
Marcus Leshock here! As soon as the Oscars are wrapped up...tune into WGN Radio 720AM to hear Nick Digilio and I break the show down. Then, tune into "metromix" on Monday night for highlights. We'll talk winners and losers....the drama that unfolded during the show....and probably some of the ridiculous fashion that was on full display to the world! In case you missed my appearance on the Nick D. Show after the Golden Globes, I've posted the highlights after the jump, so check it out....

If you saw Matt Pais and I break down this year's Oscars, you're probably asking one of two questions. 1. What's wrong with those guys OR 2. Where can I see their full list of predictions? Well, you can read Matt's predictions here. But if you want the REAL winners (a.k.a. MINE), continue reading after the jump....

Video Artist / Music Video Pioneer / Film Director / Magician. Yes, I admire Michel Gondry and won't deny it. My objectivity was thrown out the window when I interviewed him recently. Here's a quick clip that gives you an insight into this man's mind. And tune into "metromix" on Monday for the full story:
We know your losing sleep at night in anticipation for the new Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Trailer. Well wait no more here it is in all of its Lucas glory.
Politics seem to be on everybody's mind these days, young and old. In light of another round of huge victories for Barack Obama in last night's Potomac primaries, this little piece of satire made me laugh out loud. If you haven't seen the movie "Election" this might not mean much to you. But if you have....behold Hillary Clinton's "Inner Tracy Flick."
What is going on these days? Actor Roy Scheider, famous for his role as Chief Brody in Steven Spielberg's "Jaws," died yesterday at the young age of 75. No cause of death yet, but it was reported that Roy was being treated for "multiple myeloma." We actually had Roy on "metromix" a few summers ago when he was in town for the CIFF's tribute to Steven Spielberg. Until we meet again on that big Orca in the sky.....
Marcus Leshock here with one of the funniest short films I've seen in a long time. Just a simple story about a couple of guys looking for a frame shop on Google Maps. Enjoy, but remember this message. Google Maps will eventually bring complete destruction to all mankind. Have a great day!
Marcus Leshock here with a HUGE morning of surprise for movie fans. For once I mostly found myself on the Academy's side, but this year's Oscar nominations certainly raised a few eyebrows. To read the full list of nominees and a few of my thoughts, keep reading after the jump......
A promotional video for Scientology was leaked onto the "internets" today. As of right now there is still a copy of it floating on Google video. We thought we'd post it for your enjoyment. Have an Out Of This World evening!
UPDATE: The video is gone. If you missed it, you missed one heck of a show.
Marcus Leshock here. On your "metromix" weekend I talked to you about the new movie "The Orphange," which is scary as all heck! It was produced by Guillermo Del Toro, who directed 2006's "Pan's Labyrinth," a movie that's become somewhat of a cult-classic. So maybe you saw "Pan's" and didn't see my interview with Guillermo. In that case, here it is:
Marcus Leshock here. Director Danny Boyle ("Trainspotting," "28 Days Later") came through Chicago to promote his new movie "Sunshine," which drops on DVD today. In case you missed it, Danny was great. Here's the full interview:
Check out my full Leshock Value review of the film right after the jump....
With Sweeney Todd and Walk Hard in theatres we started to think of the funniest musical moments in movies.
This is what we came up with...
....a bad Arnold Schwarzenneger movie! Maybe this hilarious montage from "Batman & Robin" will help boost your spirits in these frigid times. Stay warm, my friends:
Marcus Leshock here, happy Friday everyone! Holiday break has been good so far. I'm planning on checking out "The Orphanage" today, still haven't seen it yet. And I just read that "3:10 to Yuma" drops on DVD next week, more on that then. For now, please excuse me as I go return some video tapes. Enjoy a little fun with Christian Bale:
Marcus Leshock here. Ever wonder what happens on the "metromix" set AFTER the broadcast ends? As you can imagine, a little hijinx ensue. You fans of 80's cinema should get this one. Just call us "The Metromix Club":
Marcus Leshock here. The Golden Globe nominations for 2007 are out, and as always, there’s plenty to complain about! This year’s field is SO tough to judge, they have 7 films in the Best Drama category as opposed to the usual 5! Check out the nominees, complete with commentary, after the jump….
