Despite gloomy weather yesterday, the 2nd day of 2009's Pitchfork Music Festival did not disappoint. There were many bands to choose from depending upon your tastes or if you're daring to hear something new. Here were some of days highlights:
Brooklyn's Yeasayer took the Connector Stage around 5:00pm. Their brand of world music a la David Byrne and Brian Eno certainly got the crowd energized and dancing. Mixing electronics with acoustic instruments created an ethereal, yet poppy ambience.

(more after the jump)
Norway's Lindstrom treated his audience to an wild set of electronic dance music.

Beirut of New Mexico played a on mix of eastern european folk and western pop similar to DeVotchka and Calexico. I never knew that an accordian could rock so hard!

The National of Ohio ended the evening with fanstastic performance. Playing songs mostly from 2007's Boxer and 2005's Alligator, they crooned and rocked the crowd in the style of Joy Division meets Bruce Springsteen.

A good day of music. The beverage ticket situation was better managed yesterday. Also, there was a rumor the day before that local poet Thax Douglas had died, but it was quickly denied yesterday. Let's see what today has in store!
