Howdy, y’all! “American Idol” went down to Lou-uhl-ville, Kentucky and found a few good singers, some strange birds, and apparently a guy in a port-a-potty. So before you ask why I wasn’t watching “Lost,” let’s get to my BEST, WORST, OBAMA AWARD WINNER, and FINAL VERDICT!
THE BEST
Joanna “I Deserve Another Record Deal” Pacitti. Kara mentioned that she already knew Joanna, BECAUSE SHE WAS ALREADY SIGNED TO A&M RECORDS? Doesn’t that disqualify her? She has a nice voice and looks the part, but this show should be about finding UNDISCOVERED talent!
SIMON HAS GREAT PECKS. This was an actual sign in the crowd outside of the audition room. Best of the year so far!
THE WORST
Tiffany “Don’t Confuse Me With That Dolphin Place” Shedd. The night started with this goofy blonde, who should have been stopped after she announced she was singing Mariah Carrey’s “Hero.” Also, her family looked like they were ready to give someone a dirt nap after she was rejected. We love you Kentucky!
Mark “Yeah, My Daddy Helped Lincoln’s Killer” Mudd. Simon was lucky the “is that a cell phone holster in your pocket” line turned out nicely. After a terrible George Jones, this guy told Paula to “be careful out there.” We love you Kentucky!
THE OBAMA
She was raised by a single mother, “with nothing. And homeless.” She wants nothing more than to help out the mother who did all she could to raise a good child. Cue sad music and serious Seacrest voiceover. Tonight’s OBAMA AWARD FOR HOPE winner is……
Leneshe Young. We waited all episode, and for once it was for good reason! Leneshe was definitely worth the hype. For the first time in “American Idol” history, a contestant who sang a self-written song didn’t suck. She was cute, sweet, and had a nice soft voice. Look for her to wind up in the Top 10.
THE VERDICT
Maybe you notice this recap is shorter than most? Well, I’m still irritated that tens of thousands of people show up to these auditions, yet we only get to hear about 10 singers. Aside from Leneshe Young, there weren’t too many memorable moments from this episode, although it was fun to listen to Ryan try and pronounce Louisville the entire hour. See y’all next Tuesday!
Seabiscuit, out!
