I recently stumbled upon Kim Kardashian’s website and I have to admit, it’s surprisingly good. The web design is slick, the writing’s pretty tight and the content is updated every day and packed with tons of pictures. Apparently, one of Kim’s goals in 2009 is to share her favorite beauty products. Inspired, I decided to share mine, too.
Mascara
I know, I know. Kim’s best known for her backside, but have you ever looked at the girl’s eyes? They’re gorgeous. When it comes to mascara, Kim says she swears by Maybelline’s Great Lash.
This pink tube of lash love has been a favorite with beauty editors and women all over the country for years, but every time I use it, I’m left wanting more. Instead, I prefer Maybelline’s XXL mascara. This baby comes with two wands—one for length and one for volume. Apply two coats and you’ll look like you were born with the most amazing lashes ever.
For a more dramatic evening look, I absolutely love Dior Show and Dior Black Out. At around $24 bucks a tube, this stuff is pricey, but the mascara adds outrageous length and volume, leaving you with envy-worthy eyes.
Liner
You can’t emulate Kim’s sultry smoky eye without the right eyeliner and Kim says she uses Stila’s Kajal in “Onyx," for $18.
I’ve never tried this liner, but Kim’s eyes always look amazing, so I’m going to buy her favorite as soon as I run out of my favorite: M.A.C.’s Eye Kohl in “Smolder.” I love M.A.C.’s Kohl eyeliner ($13) because it’s super soft and glides on perfectly so you can blend and smudge with ease.
Concealer
When it comes to concealer, less is always more, which is why I recommend AmazingConcealer from Amazing Cosmetics. Not familiar with the company? I wasn’t either until I interviewed the owners of this Libertyville, IL-based company during a Metromix Spring make up segment last year.
A tube of this stuff ($42) will last you months and since it’s super creamy, it’s perfect for blending.
Lip Liner
As you can see, I tend to splurge on most of my cosmetics, but when it comes to lip liner, I know how to save. Before I add gloss, I always line my lips with Wet ‘N Wild’s Crème Lipliner in Brandy Wine. At a dollar a pop, you can’t go wrong with this stuff.
Lip Gloss
For an every day look, I find that nothing is sexier than a natural, simple lip. I always apply a coat of lip balm and top it off with Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in “Shine City.” This gloss ($8) is universally flattering, but most importantly, it’s not sticky!
Shampoo and Conditioner
My hair is naturally dry and frequent blow-drying doesn’t help. To add moisture, I always use cream-based shampoos and conditioners. While Pantene ($5) gets the job done, my ultimate solution for dry, brittle hair is Neutrogena’s Triple Moisture Cream Lather shampoo and conditioner ($6). This stuff makes my hair feel so silky and soft and it’s easily found at all major grocery and drug stores.
My second favorite shampoo and conditioner combo is Redken’s All Soft line. I love this avocado and olive oil concoction, but I’ll be honest--- at $15-$20 a bottle, it’s pretty expensive so I only stock up when this stuff’s on sale.
I know we all have our own beauty regiments, so I’m wondering: what are some of your favorite beauty buys?
