That's right - Chipotle will be doling out FREE BURRITOS this Thursday, January 8th, at their brand new Logan Square location. You can get yours anytime between 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Once again, here are the details:
WHAT: Free Chipotle Burritos!
WHERE: Chipotle in Logan Square, 2717 N. Elston Ave.
WHEN: Thursday, January 8th.
WHY: Because they're free and delicious!
After the jump you'll find the official Chipotle press release featuring all kinds of nice phrases like "sustainable sources" and "food with integrity." All I can say is be prepared to wait. I went to the opening of the Gurnee location and waited in line for almost 30 minutes, maybe because people in Gurnee were new to this large, wrapped tortilla "burrito" concept. That's a joke. See you all in Logan Square this Thursday!
CHIPOTLE MEXICAN GRILL TO OPEN NEW CHICAGO RESTAURANT THIS WEEK
Restaurant Opens in Logan Square with Free Burrito Day
CHICAGO (January 6, 2009) – Chipotle Mexican Grill will open a new location in Chicago’s Logan Square (2717 N. Elston Ave), on Friday, January 9, 2009. Becoming the 18th Chipotle location in the city of Chicago, the national restaurant company continues its commitment to making high-end dining and top quality ingredients available and affordable.
To mark this opening, the new Chipotle will host a free burrito day for the public on Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“We are changing the way the world thinks about and eats fast food,” said Steve Ells, founder, chairman and CEO of Chipotle. “That is clear in our commitment to serving food made with ingredients from more sustainable sources, and in our efforts to build restaurants using more sustainable materials and energy efficient systems. It really is a new perspective on food.”
Chipotle recently joined the ranks of company’s seeking LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Restaurants and Retail certification for their new Gurnee Mills restaurant, located just outside the Gurnee Mills shopping center. The restaurant features energy efficient systems and environmentally friendly practices including incandescent-free lighting, a green housekeeping policy, and water efficiency that demonstrate Chipotle’s efforts at leading the charge on more environmentally responsible restaurant design and construction.
Chipotle’s pursuit of more environmentally friendly practices is rooted in an idea Ells calls “Food with Integrity,” which has the company looking at every ingredient it uses and how to get each ingredient from more sustainable sources. Already, the company serves more naturally raised meat (from animals raised in a humane way, never given antibiotics or added hormones, and fed a pure vegetarian diet) than any other restaurant company. That vision has also led Chipotle to such restaurant industry firsts as committing to locally grown produce when it is seasonally available, and serving cheese and sour cream made with milk from cows that are not treated with the synthetic hormone rBGH.
