Local brewers Goose Island have developed the perfect beer for this time of year: Harvest Ale. It's a brew that falls into the style known as ESB (extra special bitter)... or what the Brits normally refer to as "bitters."

The body has a nice warm, copperish hue that brings into mind to colors of the season. An off-white head tops off this malty brew. The blend of their toastiness and cascade hops gives of the taste of caramel and citric fruit. The soft carbonation and medium body make this an easy one to sip throughout the fall. Great for any party... maybe like Halloween? Mu ha ha ha!
The word "harvest" comes from the old English "haer fest" and it originally was defined as the Autumn season. It later became known as the reaping of crops in the fall. So reap the rewards of reading this beer blog and consider Harvest Ale the fruit of your labor!
