Get your own "LegObama!

legobama%20clipped%202%20copy.jpg

That's right folks! Right now on Ebay you have the opportunity to bid on this 3' X 2' portrait of Barack Obama, made entirely with Legos! What's next - Sarah Palin out of an erector set?

The "Legobama" was created by Andy Mullady, who in a strange twist of fate, owns the men's boutique Revolver that provides my clothing on "metromix." He tells me that it took him quite a while to make the portrait and hundreds of dollars in legos....which is probably why the minimum bid on Ebay is set at $2,000. So save the "change" for the election....this legobama will cost you some paper! More pix of his creation after the jump....

CONFIRMED: Bruce Springsteen to play Super Bowl Halftime Show!

Yes, I know. It was reported by Fox Sports about a month ago, but Bob Costas just "officially" announced that Bruce Springstein will be the halftime act at this year's NFL Super Bowl on NBC. It all goes down when the Chicago Bears face the New York Jets in Tampa on February 1st, 2009.

Paul Newman: 1925-2008

Paul%20Newman%20BW.jpg

The phone rings at Rosebud Prime Steakhouse in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood. The manager answers. On the line is a man asking if he can bring his own bottle of wine to the restaurant. The manager insists Rosebud has its own fine wine list, bringing your own won't be necessary. The man describes his wine and the vintage year and the manager's eyes open wide. That's a great bottle of wine - see you soon.

In walks Mr. Paul Newman. Rosebud manager David Flom told me this story when we went to Rosebud to feature it in our Best Chicago Steakhouse segment. Apparently Paul Newman loved to travel and sample America's best burgers. After reading about Rosebud in the paper, in he walked, ate, thanked, and left.

Biggie Size Me: Notorious Trailer

Check out the trailer for the Biggie Smalls biopic "Notorious." We were kinda digging it until we saw the supporting cast. The guy actor playing Tupac looks nothing like him.

What do you think?

Baby got back ... but doesn't really know what to do with it

Hey fellas, fellas - did Kim Kardashian dance to the most obvious song choice in the history of Dancing with the Stars? Hell yeah!
Ironically, she wasn't that great at shaking what her reality TV mama gave her. She sort of admitted it too in the footage leading up to last night's dance. Check it out for yourselves - the routine starts around the 1:00 mark.

Eddie Vedder's Cubs tribute

eddie vedder cubs

As the Cubbies make their push for the playoffs, it's a good time to revisit this tribute song that Eddie Vedder debuted last month at the Auditorium Theatre. Vedder, Pearl Jam's uber angsty frontman and lifelong Cubs fan (they really go hand in hand, don't they?) is an Evanston native and for once, a song of his isn't full of rage and destruction. Which, considering the topic, he'd totally be in his rights if it were. No, 'We'll Go All The Way,' is spirited and folky with an Irish drinking song vibe. He certainly knows his audience. For more on the song, check out this fan's blog.

Update:
Eddie is planning to make the track available on the Pearl Jam site soon, so check there for updates.

Simon Pegg on Batman's voice!

Just got a press release the other day saying Warner Bros. is going to re-release "The Dark Knight" into IMAX theaters this January to revamp its Oscar buzz. In honor of that, I wanted to share a little clip from my interview with actor Simon Pegg. Next week we'll talk about HIS new film, but he had a few comments about "The Dark Knight," in particular Batman's voice.

Watch Bernie Mac in the 'Soul Men' trailer!

So by now you've probably heard about the curse of 'Soul Men.' Within the past months, stars Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes have passed away. Now the trailer is out featuring the voice-over work of the legendary Don LaFontaine - who ALSO died recently. If I were Sam Jackson I'd be a little worried right now. But something tells me he's not too concerned. I mean, have you seen the guy's wallet? It's the one that says.....

Hear Kanye's new single

Fresh off his altercation at LAX, Kanye West is previewing his new single (off his upcoming and apparently not-school-related-named album due out mid-December) on his web site. We think it's pretty dope but you can judge for yourself here.

Video: Jessica Simpson messes up live!

Oh those Simpson sisters. Will they ever sing on live TV without a problem? Jessica Simpson performed on Good Morning America Tuesday morning and shortly into the performance of 'With You,' she stopped her band, complained that she couldn't hear, then started back up. When you watch the video below - mercifully, the flub comes quick at the 30-second mark - note two things: 1) How absolutely pissed she sounds when she says 'HOLD on' and how quick her band is to start up when she counts them back in.

The Hollywood Jolt for 09/05/08!

Michael Moore to release new film online - FREE of charge?!

michaelmoore.jpg

It could be the shot heard round Hollywood. Politically charged documentarian (the most financially successful documentary filmmaker in history) will release his new film "Slacker Uprising" on the internet, free for all to download. Mike's clearly following in the footsteps of bands like Radiohead and NIN, both of which found great success with a free online release. More details about the movie after the break....

Her Eggo Is Preggo

It was only a matter of time before someone made the connection between Juno (teen pregnany movie) and Juneau (capital of Alaska, where Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin hails from). No longer is Obama the "celebrity" candidate!

Video: Fall Out Boy @ Soldier Field

Hometown heroes Fall Out Boy rocked the Nike Human Race post-run concert at Solider Field on Sunday. Kind of like Rock n' Roll potassium - easing weary muscles with their cover of Micheal Jackson's 'Beat It.'
