In this week’s Neighborhood Tour segment, I made my way to La Grange, IL-- a cozy suburb 14 miles west of the city. If you didn’t catch our show tonight (tisk! tisk!), you’re in luck because you can watch the clip on our video player at the right of the screen. Yay!
Click on the link below for a quick recap and my personal opinion on all of the places I visited.
(More after the jump)
Knead Marketplace
If you’re craving freshly-baked croissants, cupcakes and scones (these are a must!) you NEED to go to Knead. Anyone, anyone? Aside from the sweet stuff, they’ve also got an extensive menu of signature sandwiches. And, since the folks here are super cool, they even created a sandwich in honor of me and it’ll be on sale all month! It’s called the Bahar Hot Bite (turkey, hot peppers and Jarlsberg…mmm) and you must give it a taste!
SoTish Art Gallery
Need a cool gift? Stop into the SoTish art gallery where you can find collectibles, jewelry, paintings, candles and more! Best part? The stuff here comes from all over the world and it won’t cost you a fortune.

The Grapevine
When locals want to feast on Mediterranean foods, they head to The Grapevine. Located right by the Metra train station, this family-run spot serves up your basics (hummus, greek chicken, and dolmades) and some not-so-basic plates, like the gyros pizza-- which sounds weird, but is delicious!
Palmer Place
This summer, drink up at the multi-level beer garden inside the Palmer Place. This family-run spot has been around for 25 years and is a favorite for locals, young and old. Try one of 36 drafts beers, or sink your teeth into a specialty burger—they have 18 varieties to choose from!
