Marcus Leshock here. Let me tell you, I really can't get enough of this political season, especially if it keeps giving us videos like this one! It's crazy to think about this - when was the last time an elected official like Hillary Clinton made herself a cup of coffee, let alone operated a cappucino machine in a gas station? Awesome!
This reminded me of that old piece of video from 1992 with then President Bush looking amazed at how a common grocery store scanner worked. I actually found a crummy version of that clip on YouTube. Check it out after the jump....
Ever wonder what it's like on a "metromix on CLTV" on location shoot? You never know what's going to happen. But the one thing I've learned? Just roll with it. Here's a little clip of a man who approached us when we were putting together last fall's movie special. Since then nearly 8,000 people have viewed this clip on YouTube. So Kokomo Joe, wherever you are, you're a star in cyberspace!
What's up folks, Marcus Leshock here! Fresh from a week OUT of America, it was fun to get back into town and watch Neil Diamond give the best 5 singers in the country a lesson in weirdness. My weekly recaps are back and (hopefully) better than ever! Who will get kicked off tonight? Here's my Top Five Recap....
Because nothing is more fun than taking a walk down memory lane, be sure to check out my past recaps in the Chicagolive.com American Idol archive....here.
And don't forget our friends over at the RedEye either! Brian Moore's "Vital Idol" blog is definitely worth checking out. Recaps, commentary and predictions with RedEye attitude can be found at redeyechicago.com/vitalidol.

Marcus, camerman Marty & myself were all over the UK, shooting a 1/2 hour program on how some of the great scotch companies like Glenmorangie & Ardbeg produce their whisky. The special airs June 7th & 8th, but if you tune in tomorrow, be the first to see the highlights!
We can't get this song out of our head this week. Apparently you are having a hard time stopping the Lollipop as well. It's #1 on the Billboard hot 100 this week.
We ran down a list of the Top Five album covers of all time on the show. If you missed it, find it in the video section on the right, then click here for the rest of the Top Ten. Let the debate begin..
Ladies, springtime is finally here and summer’s just a few months away, which means it’s time to revamp your look from head to toe.
On tonight’s episode, we taught you how to tweak your make-up regimen so you can put on your best face during the warm weather months (if you missed it, make sure to click on the video player on the right of the screen for another look) and below, we’re showing you how to shop the season’s hottest swim and footwear trends. Plus, Jackie takes us inside Gen Art's Shop CHIcago to explore the city's emerging designers.
Jessica Simpson shared a sugary sweet kiss with boyfriend Tony Romo at his 28th b-day bash over the weekend. It's good to see her letting loose and having fun with cake. I just wonder if Papa Joe Simpson saw this...
One of my favorite faces on the morning news just became a mother for the second time. American Morning co-host Kiran Chetry gave birth to son, Christopher, late last night. The 33-year-old anchor already has a 2-year-old daughter with husband and CW weatherman, Chris Knowles. Congrats to the couple!
After an exhaustive process of discussing and sampling the best steakhouses in Chicagoland, we rounded down our list to 4 great places. We asked you all to chime in on the blog, you did, and we have a Viewer's Choice. After the jump, you'll find the list of my favorite three places, and your pick. So get at it and remember to always eat responsibly!.......
Marcus recaps the Top 7 performances on American Idol. Would singing Mariah Carrey tunes be a real "Heartbreaker?" Or would it make a "Hero" out of somebody? More bad word association and maybe a few laughs in Marcus's recap!
I don’t mean to beat a dead horse over its head, but the celeb rags are still going crazy over Ashlee Simpson’s supposed pregnancy! First Us Weekly came out with the story--citing an unnamed source--then OK! followed suit, and now People says the rock duo is expecting and will be getting hitched in May. Do you think Ashlee’s really pregnant or is this just another publicity stunt?
On tonight’s Neighborhood Tour, we paid tribute to two Polish spots and one local institution in Jefferson Park. Read the details below:
1. Dinner at Smak-Tak!
It’s unlikely that you’ll be talking smack about the food at this place because everything on the menu’s homemade and delicious. They serve pierogies, potato pancakes and soft blintzes stuffed with sweet cheese. Yum! http://www.smaktak.com/
(Read more about Jefferson Park after the jump...)
I've never heard Newton Faulkner before, but after watching this video, consider me a new fan. This is one of YouTube's "Most Watched" today. It's Faulkner singing a one-man rendition of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody," and its phenomenal.
Better yet, Newton's going to be playing Schuba's this Friday and Saturday night sponsered by 93 WXRT radio. For more on the show and ticket information, click here.
Marcus Leshock here. I don't know about you, but I just can't get enough of this Cougar in Chicago story! I mean, a real Cougar loose on the North Side of Chicago? How does that happen? Was it looking to take in a Cubs game? Maybe it was attracted to the wondrous aroma of Hot Doug's delicious encased meats? Fortunately, the cat was killed by Chicago Police before it did harm to any local residents. But sadly, we'll never be able to ask the Great Beast what it was looking for. After the jump I have compiled some great moments in Cougar history. Enjoy!
USMagazine.com is reporting that Ashlee Simpson’s pregnant! The Simpson/Wentz camp is vehemently denying the rumors, but I have to say, Us Weekly is usually right about these things, so it’ll be very interesting to see what unfolds during the next few days.
What is with these successful rappers and early retirement? Word is the AARP is sick of printing out all of these new membership cards! But seriously, MTV News is reporting that Lupe is ready to hang up the mic for good. He tells MTV that his next album will probably be his last. Or I guess he's "85% sure" it will be. It's weird, but I think I remember somebody else breaking this news a long time ago. Hmmmmm.
Morgan Spurlock is lovin' the McDonald's ball pit!
Marcus Leshock here. This is an extra (disgusting) goodie from my interview with "Super Size Me" director Morgan Spurlock which airs on tonight's "metromix." I always enjoyed the ball pit as a kid. Maybe I'd be a doctor or something had I avoided it.
Morgan's new film "Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden" opens this Friday, April 18th.
No, baby! Saw this one on AintItCoolNews. Apparently Mike Myers and director Jay Roach have OK'd a script for yet another Austin Powers sequel. I thought this franchise tired out at 2, let alone 3 movies. But a 4th film? Let's hope they don't recycle the same old jokes - for the 4th time!
An article on boston.com is reporting that both Myers and Roach will soon meet with the potential new Powers-Girl soon. Keep reading after the jump to see who it could be....
We featured Phil Vettel's review of Sixteen inside the Trump Tower, to share some love, here's the story we did on JBar & David Burke's inside the James Hotel. It's this weeks Leftovers.
Quite an eventful week for new music. 90's alterna-rockers return with their first new record in six years, and the godfather of Goth makes yet another mark. Click for more!
What's up Idol freaks? Marcus Leshock here. Before you head to your Super-Bowl-like "Idol Gives Back" party, check out my recap of last night's performances by the Top 8! Funny that even though this was probably one of the lamer shows of the season, I'm still able to put together a 5 minute recap. Shows something about my sanity I guess. Enjoy!
Johnny Depp fans, it’s time to jump in your cars and make the trek out to the 'burbs because heartthrob Johnny Depp is in Aurora working on his latest project, “Public Enemies.” The megastar signed autographs for adoring fans late last night.
In case you missed our analysis of the 2008 Lollapalooza lineup on the show, you'll find it in the video section to your right. Or, for a more complete synopsis, click and read on!
"Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" drops on DVD tomorrow. If you haven't seen it, I thought it was one of the funnier films of 2007. It's definitely worth a look. I was given a few minutes to sit down and sit with the legend himself, Mr. John C. Reilly, before his concert appearance at the Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville. Here's the uncut interview:
Despite a leak from "industry sources" last Friday, this morning the official, and complete, Lollapalooza lineup was released. Click here to see the full list.
Pogo's hitting the streets to hear what you have to say about the 2008 artist roster, live tonight!
Academy Award winner Charlton Heston died last night at the age of 84. He was best known for his roles in Ben-Hur, El Cid, Planet of the Apes & The Ten Commandments.
A family spokesperson said they would not comment on the cause of death at this time. But back in 2002 Heston did reveal he had Alzheimer like symptoms.
In addition to being an actor, Heston was very active in the National Rifle Association & received the Presidential Medal of Honor in 2003.
Some of our favorite clips of Charlton after the jump...
Athens, GA's longtime stalwarts have returned with new music...and the audience seems to be split between those who are interested, and those who could care less. Click for more:
Madonna dropped her new video yesterday. Its the first single off her new album Hard Candy, which is due in stores April 24. What we don't get is if you're out of time, how do you have 4 minutes to save the world?
Nevertheless its catchy and ridiculous at the same time. Enjoy.
BTW: Madonna turns 50 later this year. She still looks good.
We featured Chicago Tribune food critic Phil Vettel's review of Fuego in Arlington Heights on this weeks Let's Eat.
We know the northwest suburb can be a hike for some of you, so here's a couple other spots to check out for some killer tacos. It's this weeks leftovers.
Which Presidential Candidate Loves Watching “The Hills?”
Apparently, I’m not the only one who’s obsessed with “The Hills.” A presidential hopeful recently shared their fondness for the MTV reality show on Time.com. No joke! Can you guess who?
The quote: “I’m honored to have Heidi’s [Montag] support and want to assure her that I never miss an episode of ‘The Hills,’ especially since the new season started.”
Check out the Reality Bytes Documentary Film Festival this weekend!
Marcus Leshock here. I'll be an honorary judge at this year's Reality Bytes Student Documentary Film Festival, put on by my alma mater - the Department of Communication at Northern Illinois University. The fest features 17 films, all under 30 minutes in length, free of charge! Topics include everything from the homeless in DeKalb county, to Roller Derby leagues, and the photographers at the Times-Picayune newspaper in New Orleans who photographed the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. A full list of all the movies, including dates and times of screenings, after the jump....
Calling all steak lovers! Metromix is on the search for Chicago's best chop house. We're gathering all your input now, so if you want YOUR favorite to be featured this April, comment below. Tell us which restaurant you love the best and why.
In January we reported New Kids on the Block may be reuniting. Well, wonder no more. It's true. We just received word from PMK-HBH that, "After more than a decade, the platinum-selling group that sparked a worldwide phenomenon, NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK has reunited for a new album and world tour."
This is their first group photo in 15 years.
That's alls we know. When a Chicago date gets set, we'll be sure to let you know.
American Idol's David Cook rushed to the hospital!
TMZ has the scoop on this. Apparently rocker and Idol-favorite David Cook hasn't been feeling well lately, and after yesterday's show, Fox medics said his blood pressure was too high and he was experiencing heart palpatations. They rushed him to the hospital! More details and a link to the story after the jump....
Howdy, y'all! Marcus Leshock here to break down your American Idol Top 9 performances last night. Would Dolly Parton night be an ENORMOUS success? Here's is my video recap I put together for chicagolive.com. Enjoy!
George Michael is coming to the states for the first time in 17 years. Tickets as you may have guessed are at a premium some of them are going for over $400 bucks.

Details on Oliver Stone's George W. Bush film "W!"
abcnews.com received an early copy of Oliver Stone's script for his Bush biopic now in production. The article on their site (which can be found here) offers plenty of spoilers, but if you want to be suprised, expect to see a W with a LOT of Daddy issues. As expected, the movie is pretty critical of Bush's rush to war with Iraq, and his days as a heavy-drinking party guy. It's slated for release in 2009 but could be rushed in time for this election season.
