You read that correctly, Oscar-nominated actor Heath Ledger has been found dead in his apartment, according to a report on TMZ.com. MSNBC is reporting that Ledger was found dead in his apartment this afternoon, surrounded by pills.
Heath was in Chicago earlier this summer filming the Batman sequel "The Dark Knight." He'll play the Joker in the film, and if early reports say anything, it could be his most memorable performance yet. This comes as a pretty big shock to all of us here at "metromix." Heath led a very private life, and never seemed like a guy who would suffer this kind of fate. It's sad to say that actor Heath Ledger is dead at the young age of 28.
I've posted some YouTube vids of Heath's best moments. Watch them after the jump....
In "10 Things I Hate About You," Heath serenades Julia Stiles with a classic from Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons:
In "A Knight's Tale," Heath and Shannyn Sossamon share an intimate moment courtesy of David Bowie's "Golden Years":
A pretty good homemade montage of "Brokeback Mountain":
And finally, WHY............SO..................SERIOUS????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was watch a promo for eatery's in Chicago. There were two guys doing the interviewing and hosting. I rather not mention any names, but don't you require a dress code? How can you let someone appear on TV, representing your interest, and looking like they just rolled out of bed, or coming off a three day drunk. If these guys don't have enough self respect for themselves, then that is why dress codes are used and enforced. If these types of values don't apply to your organization, then maybe that is why there is disorganization. You have an influence and responsibility. You should take it seriously.

Good comments, Danny. I'm sure over the next few days we're going to hear a lot of past interviews and stories about Heath, probably about warning signs everybody looked past.
And you're so right about his career choices. He did so well with teen comedy ("10 Things I Hate About You"). I'm sure he was offered a million roles like that afterwards, but Heath turned them down.
Instead, he made a period movie ("The Four Feathers"), a suspense thriller ("The Order"), a skateboarding flick ("Lords of Dogtown"), a cowboy romance ("Brokeback Mountain"), he played Bob Dylan ("I'm Not There"), and now the Joker ("The Dark Knight"). He lived a lifetime of film in only 15 years - it's so sad to think about what he could have accomplished over the next 50.
We tend to forget that regardless of all the money, the fame, the success - celebrities are people. They have problems. They have stress. I'm still not sure what happened to Heath, but I know one thing. I'll be watching "The Dark Knight" with a heavy heart.

I do recall reading an article earlier last summer or late spring. In an interview, Heath stated that he had trouble sleeping for days at a time and took sleeping pills to cope with that. This is extremely sad because not only was he beginning to get the star recognition that he deserved, but he was also becoming THE premier leading man in Hollywood. He was an inspiration for giving a full effort and trying brilliant and experimental roles that made you think and feel with the mood of the film. I'm sure his final role will impress us all. He will be greatly missed and remembered forever.
