Last Minute New Year's Eve Ideas.....

steak%20fireworks%20jpeg.jpg

Marcus here. Maybe you're like the thousands of other folks who still have no idea what they're doing on New Year's Eve? You could spend hundreds of dollars on some party you probably won't remember. Or you could spend all of that money on a nice dinner! Before you "snap into shape in '08" (patent pending), why not gather your friends at one of Chicago's signature restaurants and shovel ridiculous amounts of food down your traps? A few options for ya after the jump....

For the Regular Joe:

Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse
Hello again, everybody! Harry's is my favorite steak in Chicago, and their New Year's option is definitely worth a visit. For $90, you get a soup, appetizer, salad, lobster or veil entree, and dessert - complete with a wine pairing to match each course. You can even opt out of the "wine clause", which brings the price down to $65. Holy Cow indeed! For info visit them at harrycarays.com.

If you're looking to get a bit more "Up-ity"

Gibson's Steakhouse
Another great steak in Chicago, Gibson's is having a New Year's special. For $175 you get passed hors d'oeuvres, a surf & turf dinner, and an open bar from 8pm til 1 am. So if hob nobbin' with the Gold Coast's finest over a few dirty martinis does it for ya, this might be the way to go. Gibsonssteakhouse.com for more.

Now to the "I think this might be my last New Year's Eve celebration so let's blow the big one" category

The Signature Room
Venture on up to the 95th floor of the Hancock Building for the most breathtaking views of the city, but they certainly don't come cheap. If you'd like to eat between 8-9:30pm they offer a special menu. You get smoked mussels, an appetizer, soup OR salad, a pallet cleansing sorbet, a main course of either lobster tail, duck breast, beef fillet or vegetable cassoulet, some cheese, and dessert. Sounds good right? Did I mention the price? It'll set you back $275 per person! But you do get a bottle of champagne and a balloon drop at midnight, not to mention the best view of the 2008 New Year's fireworks. More on this party can be found at signatureroom.com.
