I’ve got a problem. And instead of resolving it, I’ve simply chosen to ignore it, hoping it’ll just go away. And it hasn’t, no matter how far I run or hide.
You see, New Years Eve is just weeks away, and my friends have so graciously dumped all of the party planning burdens upon my feeble, already-aching-from-carrying-a-camera-around-all–day shoulders. But, really, how can I blame them?
To these three, maybe four lucky souls, I am Miss Metromix—Queen of the Clubs… Savior of Saturday Night… Princess of All Parties…Victor of the Velvet Rope… Hometown Hero (my, ahem, personal favorite)…and the list goes on, but I’m shy and bashful, so I’ll just leave it at that.
It’s true. Because of my job, I’ve got a strong pulse on the newest, most notable hotspots in Chitown. But when it comes to finding a place to spend New Years, I haven’t a clue.
I know there are literally hundreds of pre-packaged New Years Eve bar and restaurant “deals” to pick and choose from, but they’re all terribly expensive. And mom and dad always taught me to act wisely and keep my priorities and finances in check. So, clearly, instead of paying $175 for a night full of booze and bite-sized piggies in a blanket, I’d rather spend my hard-earned money on something more necessary—like another pair of boots! Or maybe that cute t-shirt at Urban!
But, I digress. Seriously, I need your help. I don’t want to be responsible for dragging my dear, loyal friends to a predictable New Years Eve party. I have a reputation to uphold! And since I’m too lazy to come up with my own creative party alternatives, I’ve resolved to just steal yours. So tell me, what are some fun, affordable, non-cheesy New Years Eve bar and restaurant alternatives? I’m open to anything: themed house parties, dinner and a dance-off, sock puppet theatre, burlesque shows, you name it! Oh, and please reply promptly, lest I have a party planning panic attack. Love, Bahar.

I have some ideas. Should I make a spreadsheet for you?
