As seen on "metromix TV"...writer/director Frank Darabont spoke with me about his first-draft of "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." Here's our entire exchange on the subject:
My thoughts on Frank being pulled off the project...and a call for YOU to respond are after the jump....
I'll start this by saying I haven't read either Frank's screenplay...or the shooting script which was written by frequent Spielberg scribe David Koepp, but I trust Frank's writing enough to know it was probably pretty darn good. Frank has collaborated with Spielberg before...he doctored the scripts for both "Saving Private Ryan" and "Minority Report," easily two of the Berg's best films. Oh...and he wrote a draft of the Spielberg produced "Collateral"...another ridiculously awesome film.
So if Spielberg was really gung-ho on running with Frank's version of Indy 4...why the heck wouldn't they go with it? And who in their right mind would let GEORGE LUCAS give screenwriting advice?! Really quick let's remind ourselves that George wrote, produced, and directed a film full of moments like this one:
Mr. Lucas is a genius when it comes to many aspects of the filmmaking process. Screenwriting? Not one of them.
Anyways....I'm still pumped about Indy 4. Each of the previous three stand as classics in their own distinct ways. But do YOU think Indy 4 will be as good as the previous installments? Let's chat about it, leave a comment!
