When you’ve got a job like mine where you’re constantly visiting new bars, restaurants and clubs, you inevitably come into contact with a lot of different washrooms, powder rooms, water closets and little boys’ rooms. So, being the odd bird that I am, I got to thinking: the bathrooms at these places can really reveal whether you’re at a posh or crappy place—pun intended, folks!
From the quality of soap (do they use Dial or handmade goat milk soap? Bonus points for free hand lotion!), to the effectiveness and power of the almighty flush, the set-up of these bathrooms can certainly leave a lasting impression on the perceptive public bathroom user (PPBU). After all, an elaborate décor suggests that the management at the restaurant or bar is going above and beyond to woo you no matter where you’re sitting. And if the bathroom is smelly and dirty, imagine what the kitchen where they cook your food or wash your pint glasses looks like!
