Before Metromix
Chicago native Bahar Takhtehchian returned to the Windy City after working in print media in New York City for the past two years.
Bahar developed her passion for broadcast journalism at the age of seven when she cast herself as the “evening anchor” of ABC Eyewitness News, performing pretend broadcasts live from her family’s living room. Skilled with the ability to interview make-believe guests and banter with herself for hours, the prodigy captivated millions of imaginary viewers.
Bahar continued to pursue her interest in journalism as a student at Northwestern University, where she received a Master’s degree in broadcast journalism and a bachelor’s degree in magazine journalism from the Medill School of Journalism. During her college years, she interned at Seventeen, Maxim, New York and InStyle magazines, developing her understanding of fashion, arts and entertainment and the bar and club scene. As a graduate student, she worked as a Washington, D.C.-based television reporter for WDAY-TV in Fargo, N.D. and as a radio reporter for WHO-AM in Des Moines, Iowa. Reporting from Capitol Hill, she covered issues such as the No Child Left Behind Act, illegal immigration, and the ongoing healthcare debate.
Upon graduating, Bahar set out on her career goal of breaking into broadcast journalism -- and earning enough money to one day cover a full semester's worth of Northwestern tuition.
Today, you can find this jack-of-all-trades schlepping around town with a camera, tripod and microphone in hand as she explores the city’s newest boutiques, bars, restaurants and clubs. If you see her, don’t be afraid to give her a hand. No, really—this equipment is heavy.
