Hello “metromix” viewers! Marcus Leshock here. By now you’ve heard all about the weep session on Ellen yesterday. A few of my thoughts after the jump…
In case you missed Ellen’s mini-freak out, here’s a vid from youtube:
Get…..It…..Together! My gosh! From the looks of this you’d think little Iggy the Dog had a rendezvous with a Mack Truck. But no. The dog had to go back to the shelter because Ellen didn’t follow the rules.
Having family who works with animal shelters, I understand these rules. They exist to make sure the animal finds a fit home. A legit rescue agency will do a thorough background check on an individual….at times they even visit the person’s home to make sure things are in order. The last thing they want is to approve a situation for an animal, and then have the owner pass the animal off to someone who is NOT fit for said animal. It’s common sense. Even Ellen admits she broke the rules.
HOWEVER, a good home for a dog is a good home for a dog. The agency, Mutts and Moms, came out today and said they will not let the new family keep the dog. They offer no reason for this, other than they do not allow dogs to go to homes with children under the age of 14. Here’s the story from today’s wire:

Rumors and reports are flying about both Ellen and the agency. TMZ.com reported today that the agency in question, Mutts and Moms, has allowed adoptions to homes with young children in the past. While Howard Stern speculated on his show this morning that Ellen may have tried to adopt up to NINE other dogs in the past…none obviously working out in her favor. He reiterated it was a rumor, not good news for Ellen if it’s true.
My suggestion? Mutts and Moms – forget your age rule for a change. Check out the family like you would check out any other family. If they pass the test, let them keep the stupid dog. I mean, if this guy can do it……
