Celebrities...they live just like us. Well... at least some of them do. We love it when local celebs give us the scoop on their on-the-market digs - and we love it even more when we get a tour! Take a look at this multi-million dollar Hinsdale home and you'll see that aside from the wine collection - probably worth about as much as the house itself - this local celebrity pretty much does live like the rest of us! Just with a bit more space and a few more toys!

One of the Windy City's finest has put his River North townhome on the rental market, according to luxist.com. Vince Vaughn's furnished 4 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath is being offered at the low, low price of $9,500/month. The place is a spacious 4,000 square feet with a rooftop terrace, three garage spots and a 7-seat home theatre where the lucky renter can spend rainy days memorizing lines from the wedding crasher's long list of comedies.
So, if you're in the market for a River North rental, it's time to "grab that net and catch that beautiful butterfly, pal..."

According to the London Daily Mail, the American Idol judge we love to hate has taken measures to make sure that no matter how rainy the day, he'll be able to maintain that bronze glow that brings out his chest hair so well. Simon Cowell's $22 million dollar Beverly Hills home is welcoming a new addition - a solarium with a full length tanning machine plus a "booster" facial tanner (you know, for those days when tanning your whole body is just too much to deal with). Ahhh, the life of the celebrity.

If you look back on the 90's as your finest decade, then surely this little nugget of information will be of interest. Aaron Spelling's LA mansion has been put on the market for the bargain price of $150 million, making it the most expensive home on the market in America right now. The man who gave us a decade of Beverly HIlls, 90210 (and plenty of other hit series before that...if you don't know who he is, then I can't help you at this point) left the home to his wife Candy who has purchased a $47 million dollar high-rise condo to "start a new chapter" in her life. And not even she knows how many bathrooms this compound has.
And since I don't imagine Mrs. Spelling is planning an open house, here's what deep-pocked buyers can expect to see...

It may look like any other brick two-flat in Chicago's south side Park Manor neighborhood, but this modest brick home houses some history behind the front door. The Capone family bought it in 1923 for $5,500...considerably less than the $450,000 that it's listed at today.

A few days ago, I had the pleasure of meeting up with the interior designer and the listing agent for the Highland Park home that was featured in Ferris Bueller's Day Off back in '86 and is now on the market for $2.3 million. I was initially attracted to the house (like everyone else in America...) because of the movie magic attached to it. But as it turned out, the house itself has some interesting history. Plus, it's one of the most unique homes I've seen since I started with HomesPlus...and there have been A LOT of homes!
It all starts with the surroundings. The main house and garage (the actual garage, not the structure that they used as the garage in the movie - that's actually the pavillion house) are set no further back from the road than any other home in the neighborhood, but because of the way it was designed, it's not even visible from the street; the foliage provides incredible privacy...for a lot less than a big ol' iron gate. Gotta love nature, right?
As you've seen in pictures and of course in the movie, the home is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows that allow for an unparallelled view of the surrounding ravine...from nearly every room (bathrooms and kitchen excluded). The nature angle continues throughout the home. From wood ceilings to cork floors (underneath the carpet) to the steel-and-glass frame of the home - this place was way ahead of its time in terms of eco-friendliness. Which brings me to its other claim to fame...

Jon and Kate aren't the only ones with problems.
Their Elizabethtown, PA home has been listed for more than three months and while I've never seen a single episode of their reality show (don't worry, I'm still totally updated on their daily activities, thanks to every media vehicle in existence) it does appear that the reality of the housing market is weighing on them just as it is the rest of us. And if the home of the couple that everyone can't get enough of can't sell, then what hope do the rest of us have, right?
Turns out celebs (real or otherwise) aren't immune to the housing slump. Here are a few who are feeling the heat of the current market...

Ahhh, the life of celebrity...fancy cars, fine champagne and gorgeous estates are just part of their daily lives. That is, when they're not behind on their mortgage payments like so many average Joes.
Case in point: former Bulls player, Eddy Curry. Today's Tribune reports that Curry's suburban Chicago home is in foreclosure. It would appear that the baller has fallen short by about $217k...so far. That's probably not difficult to do when you've got an interst rate of 9.25% (can we stress the importance of refinancing??).
The home was purchased for $3.7 million in July of 2003.
