Technology changes pretty much every five minutes and we all want to hop on the latest, coolest tech-trend, which means a lot of household electronics end up in landfills with the rest of our discarded trash. But when you're spring cleaning this weekend, there's a better way to get rid of your out-of-date computers, monitors and PDAs. Recycle them!
According to the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition, computers include arsenic, mercury, and also several pounds of lead in every monitor. That definitely sounds like what you want soaking into your backyard, right? Yeah. Didn't think so. So find a recycle center in your neighborhood or donate your PCs, cell phones and other gadgets to the Salvation Army or Goodwill...because tax deductions are pretty green too!
