With Earth Day around the corner, I've set out to find fantastic design ideas that qualify as "green." And as we all know, using something that already exists as opposed to buying new is super eco-friendly. One of my new favorite places to find home treasures is the Rebuilding Exchange in Chicago. Maybe it's the hunt that gets me. I don't know, but this place is a warehouse full of home items that are screaming for some creativity - and some are so unique you probably wouldn't find them in the store if you tried. And of course, they've all been salvaged from Chicagoland tear-downs, so you may as well be hugging a tree.
My pick today - circular windows...

I can imagine this old pair of windows as being a part of some small Chicago home that was charming in its hey-day but was perhaps neglected and eventually deconstructed so that all of its bits and pieces ended up in the Rebuilding Exchange, waiting for someone with vision to give them a little tlc and a new life. I love how unique they are; there are so many different ways to use them! You could actually use them as exterior windows (as shown) or you could tap into your artsy side and incorporate them into a design project in your home as a one-of-a-kind accessory. Matching side tables, perhaps? Wall art? Either way - giving new life to these old windows is so very green!
