Swap to Sell

In a tough market it seems sellers are willing to try anything if it means getting out from under their unwanted mortgage. Case in point: check out craigslist.com these days and you might notice that the category for "house swap" now includes postings from sellers looking to trade homes...permanently.

The permanent home swaps are mixed in with the vacation home swaps, so craigslist doesn't track them, but they work in much the same way. Owners who have had a hard time selling in Florida for example and are looking to relocate to another state, can create a post saying as much. The idea is that a seller in that state would spot the ad and contact the Florida seller to exchange some pictures and eventually actually trade homes. Definitely seems like a long shot, but I suppose your perfect home could be out there waiting for you!
