Make your home a stay-cation destination!

Since it's costing roughly a million dollars to fill up your tank every time you visit the pump these days (okay, so I'm exaggerating a tiny bit...), we're all trying to scrimp and save in other areas to make up for it. Which is why this summer travel season more and more people are staying home during their time off. It's the stay-cation and it's catching on! But it doesn't have to feel like the same old place! Here are some tips to make your home a place that feels fresh enough to keep you smiling your whole week off!

Clear the clutter! When you step into a lux hotel you wouldn't expect to see old newspapers, bills and dirty laundry laying around, would you? Of course not, so you shouldn't have to deal with it on your stay-cation either! Day one - take an hour and clear out the junk - toss old papers, file the important ones (in a place where you can deal with them later!) and let someone else deal with the laundry! After all, you're saving money on a hotel, so why not send it out?

Freshen it up! Nothing says relaxation like the scent of freshly cut flowers. And the color adds a fun pop to your home too! Cut them from your garden or grab some from your local grocery store for just a few bucks. An inexpensive luxury...

Accessorize! On vacation you wouldn't think twice about heading out to buy some souveniers or a great piece of local art, right? So, why should this be any different? Scout local shops you wouldn't normally frequent and splurge on a great new painting or some fun throw pillows for your home. The best part? No worries about carry-on luggage or declaring them at customs!
